Welcome to the Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate thread! This will be our headquarters for coordinating our Hunts, sharing stories of war, and helpful hints for our brothers-in-arms, compatriots, friends, and neighbors. Please be mindful of folks' different definitions of "spoilers," and remember that not EVERYBODY played Monster Hunter Tri on the Wii, though everybody totally should've.


The "burden" of running this thread has been placed upon me but...I can't do it alone. I will lean on Maxi and others to help with the heavy lifting occasionally, both in planning things and also in feeding this thread. Please keep it bumped (once we get going). If you could, let us know if you're getting this game, WHEN you're getting this game, and what your aspirations are so we can get us situated in groups with likeminded people. Do you want to barely play this game? Is this going to be your new #1? The most fun with this game is had when you get to go out with a group of guys week in week out, so if we can find someone with a schedule similar to yours, you'll have the most fun with it.

Getting some sleep actually sounds good right now. I'll only be available during the daytime this weekend, but even if I don't get to play with any of you guys I'll try to do a few quests and maybe go for HR2 at least to hopefully not be quite so far behind everyone when I do.

Honeymoon success!

Thanks to the awesomeness of being able to play on the 3DS via the data transfer system, I managed to complete the first 3 levels of the single player campaign, plus repel the Lagiacrus. I have to say, playing on the 3DS without another analog stick makes water battles VERY difficult. I tried to avoid doing them as much as possible.

I also got a few tavern quests done by myself, such as collection quests. Those are even more difficult by yourself. Unique Mushroom quest took me a half hour, just because they don't spawn fast enough.

I am happy to be back in the USA and am ready to play online when possible, woo!

That can't be right. I'll go back to Harvest 'Shroom whenever I wanna refill on Mega Potions or Bitterbugs without being attacked by every boss I've ever fought all at the same time. There are mushroom logs in areas 2, 3, 6, and 7, and on top of that, the rate of finding "Unique Mushroom" is through the roof! I'll often collect extras, along with Choice and Ripened Mushrooms, just for the extra cash!

I dunno.. I was doing this with d'Artagnan early last month, and we got disconnected from each other. We both decided to finish the quest, and a Mushroom Log didn't even reappear for me for about 15 minutes. It was pretty frustrating. I had a similar issue last night (offline) with a Bloodstones mission. I'm CONSTANTLY maxed out on those things during missions, but I could not for the life of me find 3 more. I freehunted a Gigginox and the thought of losing that credit with Abandonment was not something I was stoked for. The online missions are built around multiple players, I'm surprised you're able to get through on your own so easily, DW!

Ah, I was referring to the story-mission. I didn't realize that the drop rates dropped for multi. I guess it'd make sense for a collection quest. You'd need more people to look further and wider for the items. I remember it being somewhat more difficult to find unique mushrooms in Tri's story-mode, and if you wanted to hand in side-quest missions, you'd have to make sure to hand them in first.

In the case of Ultimate, they seem to have done away with sub-missions entirely, and just added bonus rewards in the form of cash and extra items if you happened to go above and beyond the call of duty.

Yes, that is exactly right. And you don't decide what to put in the box anymore either. You just go to the box and it autopulls whatever you have. You can return Account Items mid-Quest, too, to free up your pockets. Pretty neat in that regard.

Yeah, that mushroom quest took me over 20 minutes today because I kept getting blue mushrooms instead of unique ones once they finally decided to respawn. That's not as bad as not realizing that the pass to exit got put in the supply box on the first harvest tour mission and spending 50 minutes trying to figure out what I was supposed to be doing though.

HAHA!! OH NO!! That would be terrible, man, sorry to hear that. Check that Quest Status thing! I freaked out last night when I showed up without a Trap. "*GASP!* DO I NEED TO TRAP HIM?!"

Quick story: I was trying to Cap a G.Baggi on a Hunt mission, and when I laid the trap down, as SOON as he entered it (before I deployed a single Tranq), a freakin' normal Baggi popped me with his sleepy stuff. Cha-Cha stood next to me and watch me lay there, just long enough for the G.Bag to wiggle free, and slink away. Bad, Cha-Cha, BAD!

Sorry about Friday, I kinda' did that lastminute as I expected to be farming stuff most of the night.

That said, every Friday evening at about 8-ish, I stream MH3U until just after midnight my time (MST). Still waiting for my main team to make the Wii-U jump, but I figured it'd be a good chance to hunt with some of you guys then as well. :3 Even if not, feel free to drop in the stream chat and hang out as well.

You don't need Facebook to chat on Twitch.tv. The pop-in just gives you the option to use it to sync up automatically.

I am now HR2 A ton of new monster quests opened up! Diablos already! Wow. Need a few more Lagi stuffs to forge an awesome hunting horn. I've been going exclusively dual blades, and getting pretty good with them, but I really want to use the hunting horn. Soon.
