@NinSage -I've been wrong in the past. ;) More than a few times. I just think that the trend of a third remixed game has gotten old & I personally believe Nintendo & Gamefreak are over that. A third legendary has been confirmed to be yet to be revealed, so I guess we'll see if I'm wrong when we know if it's name starts with a Z or if the legendary itself looks like a Z.
My wife and I definitely plan to each get a copy, but I don't know which one will be mine or hers.
I usually am somewhat indifferent about the version I get. However, my wife will want the one that has the legendary Pokemon she likes best. So we'll see! In any case, I will get the version to complement her pick.
I'm no Pokemon fan, in fact never played any of the main games, but I enjoyed Pokemon Snap a lot, and if there was a Pokemon SnapU, I'd be all for it (once I actually purchase a WiiU).
Neither. Based on the trailer, I can tell that GameFreak still isn't innovating nearly as much as they can. Pokemon is still formulaic and nothing has really changed besides content. While the change to 3D is nice, it doesn't change the base gameplay. Until we here more on what/if they will do to fundamentally improve the game, we are just supporting stagnation by buying this rehashed series.
Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan and I love each generation. But I will not support a developer that refuses to properly advance the gameplay of a video game series.
@Davoid May I ask why you think this? Every generation has had one (Gen I technically had two in Japan). Black/White 2 was a little different than your typical version sure, but that Gen itself was different than usual as well. Since I think the X/Y come from the X and Y axis, then I think there will be a Pokémon Z for the Z axis.
@Mop it up for many reasons. First off, the previous "third" version we had was Platinum which got released 4 years ago. Since then, Gamefreak steered clear of third versions with Pokémon Black&White and Black&White2. We never got Grey and I never felt there was any intentions to get a "Grey" version. I believe we are over the "Third time's the charm" routine. I believe these remixes were mostly done to satiate the fan's thirst for Pokémons in between installment, just so the franchise do not loose it's momentum in between the relatively slow pace in which the games came out. In the latest Nintendo Direct(Pokémon direct), Iwata mentionned that they kinda sharpened the development cycle allowing for faster localization(and simultaneous release). I now believe that the franchise gained enough speed that it won't need the third sister game anymore. I may be wrong, but this is just the general vibe I get from the company ever since Heartgold & Soulsilver, I feel this is where we are now. The third game was always a marketing choice, not anything like an holy tradition or anything that is mandatory. It's been away enough for a while now that I do not believe we'll see it again anytime soon.
@Davoid It's an interesting viewpoint, though I think Black/White 2 was essentially the third version, just split in two. How well did those games sell? I just find it hard to believe that they won't make a third version when they still sell millions, and Pokémon is all about the money, clearly. Though I guess we could be getting another "sequel" game instead, if those sold well enough, since that would make them even more money.
