Can we add this image to the OP? (shamelessly stolen from NeoGaf)

One thing I noticed from the demo is that this game has magnificent music. It's beyond good. This gives paper Mario sticker star a run for its money.

@Scrawnton

I noticed that too. It's on par for Fire Emblem music, so no complaints from me!

The official site has several neat, informative videos.

what i am a little confused about is the class mechanic. At the beginning of the demo you pick attributes based on stats. Is it going to be more black and white in the actual game or am i going to create my class through stat distribution? I like the idea of having create classes, but how in depth does it really go?

Like, do I get to chooses classes for every character, or just mine and story characters already have a level path set in stone?

I read nothing on the japanese game so I am unsure about everything you can do in this game. I just know the demo really excited me and I am downloading it day one.

I'm pretty sure the only character you can customize is the main character at the beginning of the game. The rest of the characters have set classes in stats, although their level-ups are still determined by the random number generator.

@TriforceBun when the game releases, can we do a playthrough with everyone using the same difficulty settings? I would like to play the game with casualties as long as everyone else is going through hell with me.

@Scrawnton

Is there any other way to play Fire Emblem? Seriously, I can't imagine bringing units back. I think there were staves that could possibly do that once (and then be repaired for ridiculous amounts of gold), but I'm almost certain those were in the Japanese games...

@ludist210 well, there is a difficulty mode that gets rid of permadeath in this game. I would choose that if others would, but i would like to struggle with everyone else. My only problem with Fire Emblem games is that it takes time for me to understand all the match up strengths and weaknesses and seldom have time to devote to making sure no one dies at all.

Heck, the only fire emblem game i played was the GCN one back when I was in 12th grade. The last level, I lost every single one of my units except the main character: he was the only one that lived.

I like making progress in RPGs and getting strong because of devoted time. I know this game is not like that; however, it is my understanding that this game is a little bit friendlier to new players than the GCN FE i played.

Also, I can't post the link on my work computer, but IGN just reviewed it with a HIGH HIGH score. Reading now:

score is 9.6

here are its comments based on the video review:
- Perfect FE experience
- The new best thing on 3ds
- The best looking game on 3ds (not a big deal)
- Best production value of any portable game
- Casual option lets you turn permadeath off
- Three difficulty levels and an unlockable fourth
- Characters to find, weapons to craft, relationships, skills to unlock, customization

here were the +/-'s

+ Deep RPG gameplay
+ Very Customizable
+ Great Characters
+ Beautiful Visuals

I'm thinking about playing through the first time with the normal perma-death, then playing again with it turned off so I can what I missed if someone dies.

Link to IGN's review. I think I like this Audrey.

I'll be playing on Normal/Classic. I'm still a newbie to this series for the most part, so I'd rather learn the ins and outs of the battle system before delving into Hard, but I also know that permadeath is the way the game is meant to be played and gives an air of weight to all your decisions in battle.

I'm excited!

so are we agreeing to start our playthrough together at launch on normal with permadeath?

that was a good review from both destructoid and nintendoworldreport.com

@TriforceBun

The basics you need to know for melee combat:

  • Sword beats Axe
  • Spear beats Sword
  • Axe beats Spear
  • Arrows trump flying units

  • I'd give you the magic triangle, but it doesn't appear to do much in Awakening...

    Awesome review scores! I'm looking forward to the game, though I probably won't be picking it up right away due to other priorities.

    I'm happy about the review scores. I can't wait to get my system next week.

    @gojira

    Same here. Also, cheers on the banner in the OP. So awesome! Thanks for doing that.

    @GameDadGrant

    No problem. I had to resize it a bit and since I didn't know what OT stood for I took it out too.
