It's really hard for me not to sell Radiant Dawn for over $50 on eBay and get this to play after I'm done Kid Icarus.

This game is getting better and better. I expected good things from all the positive praise, but I'm enjoying it more than anticipated. The characters and dialogue in particular--while coarser than I expect from Nintendo--are extremely well done and perhaps the biggest surprise of the package. But the core gameplay is really strong and cerebral as well, with a ridiculous amount of options in terms of both micro and macro-management. I'm surprised to say it but it's starting to give SM3DL a run for its money in the quality department (although I'm pretty sure Kid Icarus will remain the number one 3DS game in my heart).

@Guillaume

Thanks for the shout out!

Beat "Marth" in Chapter 4 with my team of myself, Lissa, Chrom, Sumia, Miriel, and Stahl. Mainly did that to build up supports...all of those are at B support.

Damn, teaming up my character with Lissa to gain magic boost is insane. It also seems to give him a better chance at double attacks... which instantly takes out just about anything. I could have done 74 damage in one turn earlier if I wanted to

Sumia + Chrom + A Support = great team

Lissa + me + A Support = magical assassin

Just raised those two support levels in an extra battle (still haven't started Chapter 5) and I've now got two teams that are a force. If only Lissa could actually attack...then I'd be set.

@ludist210

You should be able to upgrade her to a War Monk I believe it is... healing + axes. What a deadly combination

Chrom is already deadly by himself for me. I'd rather not team him up with anyone as he just kills everything and wouldn't let anyone else get experience from it.

I might have to breakdown and download this game since Starkblast Damien (or whatever) is threatening to shut down the North East and I still haven't found copy in stores, it's surely out by now but I don't have to time to make the rounds. :(

@VofEscaflowne

Ah okay. She's level 10 now, but I don't have anything to promote her with.

Chrom isn't fast enough to hit twice, but Sunia is, so that team is making pretty quick work of anything that comes their way.

Hm, I wasn't sure what to do with my main character... but I switch his class over to a Mage and I guess I'll have better magic stats instead. Though he lost a bunch of defensive ones...

And I'm unsure what to do with Lissa since changing her class, I can get the healing mount one. Or change her to the War Cleric (not War Monk) so she can wield an axe. I imagine the defensive stats would be a nice boost for my character when teaming up.

Okay, I switched him over to a Mage... not only did he gain more magic out of it, but he got a skill that lets him get more magic too I paired him up with Lissa earlier (they just married!) and he managed to do a critical shot of 102 damage

I also gave a Master Seal to Sully and she's now a Paladin! Crazy stat boots and basically unstoppable if I pair her up with Chrom.

I beefed up a few units myself! Donnel is now a Mercenary and can really hold his own. Gaius is an Assassin and is awesome. And I'm trying to decide where to take Lissa now that she's level 20.

The game became surprisingly powerful at the point I'm at too. Good storytelling so far.

@ludist210

I kind of want to do a playthrough where I kill off as many characters as I can and just focus on Chrom and my character. I wonder how far one could make it And how it would affect the story.

EDIT: Freaking crap, my character is insane. He took out 2 wyvern riders by himself by dodging both of their attacks and killing them in one shot with magic. Then some barbarian came at him too and dodged again, killing him in one shot. I think he gained 3 levels on one map alone

@VofEscaflowne I think Shadow Dragom actually encourages that. I think you get a better ending if you finish the game with a fewer amount of characters.

@ludist210 I just can't stand to let someone die...
on my first playthrough

Bye, Tharja. I'll always remember your April Ludgate sense of humor... At least I've got magicians to spare though.
02/09/13, 18:13
I'm doing the opposite. I'm playing through the first time, with legit character loss/no restarts. Then I'll play through again with that turned off. It'll be interesting considering who I've lost so far!
02/09/13, 19:35
Geez guys, how many support conversations are IN this game?

I'm not super far yet, but I'm assuming maybe 30-40 characters? Let's say 30.

Each character has a support with every other character, so (30 x 29)/2 (since a Chrom/Lissa support is the same as Lissa/Chrom, etc).

Then, each support pair has three conversations. So the above number times three.

THEN, there's also a fourth conversation for marriage, so 30 x 15/2 is added.

1305 + 225 = 1530 support conversations! Geez! And that's only assuming 30 character interactions, of which there're probably more. No wonder this game took so long to localize.

So that's it then, Triforcebun? Givin' up the sword already?

EDIT: Alright, just played the demo. Think I'll pick this game up once I finish Xenoblade. Great stuff.

Are you guys playing with battle animations on or off?

So I might be getting this game soon... But there is a problem.

Yesterday, my aunt came over to tell us about her family trip to Orlando they were going to take and etc. She said that if I wanted she could buy something from there for me. I have been seriously considering to get Fire Emblem Awakening. However, since it has been less than a week from launch, I do not believe there are many stores with the game in stock at the moment.

So here is my request for help. Where did you guys purchase the game, as in stores? It would be of good help to know.
