Hello, true believers! Welcome to Negative World's newest RPG-centric Club Hub, springing off the heels of the Fire Emblem Club. Way back when, Nintendo Power introduced a monthly walkthrough / in depth Role Play Game section (right around the beefiest SNES RPG era), but since they aren't around anymore to use it, Negative World will bring it out of the ashes, dust it off, and roll with it (two things of note: #1, this is not in reaction to Nintendo Force Magazine at all -- I know that because I thought of it in the shower this morning, so THERE; and #2, I just looked up "Epic Center RPG" on Yahoo, and there is apparently another RPG-based site that has that, ugh. I guess we're looking at a "Ghostbusters" / "Real Ghostbusters" thing now... Whatever..).

For anyone who grew playing SNES RPGs, and were a fan of them, they surely resonated to the point where they still hold office as some of your favorite games of your entire videogame life, systems, generations, and decades later. The NW Epic Center (run primarily by myself, with the aid of some special friends occasionally) will help to expose some of those games that didn't quite get the recognition they deserved, and also to relive some of the greatest games EVER as we play through them again -- together -- and open up a whole new dialogue on these lost treasures.

Next up..

Chrono Trigger is held by many (myself included) as The Greatest RPG of All Time, pun not intended. It is a benchmark title in the genre, and even after 20 years the game is discussed daily and held in high regard, even in the face of juiced-up, HD "masterpieces." Is simpler sometimes better? Sure, but we're not talking "Dragon Warrior" simple here; we're talking 16-bit perfection at its finest. I'm personally a bit worried about pursuing this game once more; it's been a long time since my last jog through it, and I'm afraid I might have the rosiest pair of glasses that any shot of nostalgia could ever produce. We find out later this month, for better or for worse. (C'mon, it's gonna be fine -- we're talking Chrono Trigger here!! THE BEST, JERRY, THE BEST!!)

Sunday, August 30th marks the start of Week 1 (if you prefer to start your own quest AFTER Sunday, like Monday, or Tuesday, or Wednesday, thats fine!). Golden Sun ran 6 Weeks. GameDadGrant will be our DUNGEON MASTER for this one, and we figure the playthrough to run about the same length. Less than two months. I'm told the total quest should last you between 20 and 30 hours.

See ya soon!!

And here I thought lots of discussion happened when I was away, but it's all just about how this thread is run again! I've got problems with it too, but it's pretty clear that Mr_Mustache is too stubborn to ever listen. If you're going to still try anyway, at least do it elsewhere so it doesn't clutter the game thread!

Getting back to the game, does anyone know what the various dew items do? I used a Moon Dew and it had no effect.

Do the Dew!

@Mop it up

I stole this from the gamefaqs forums. These items were much used in the last boss battle of the third week.

Moon Dew: Resurrect flatlined humanoid with 1/4 of their hp.
Star Dew: Restores about 128 hp to every humanoid in the party.
Solar Dew: Resurrect flatlined humanoid with full hp.

Yeah I ended up looking up the Dews on GameFAQs. Haven't had to use any yet, luckily, so I'm stockpiling them for later.
05/22/13, 04:20
Ah. I thought we wanted to avoid looking things up and instead were just going on each other's discoveries, but I guess I was mistaken? Or was this just one exception?
05/22/13, 04:21
I do what I want, when I want, and how I want!
05/22/13, 04:24
@Mop it up

This is the first I'm hearing about this. I'm totally playing this game with a faq. I have basically no patience for RPGs without one. If this is the case I'll refrain in the future from sharing anything I've learned from there.
05/22/13, 04:41
OH! I forgot to ask/mention, did you guys encounter any of those "huh, looks like little machines" boxes? I opened one and Wren got a new Skill, but the one in the PlateStation still doesn't work. I'm guessing that was for the other Android Chick who left and became part of Nurvus?, but yeah. Pretty much everything in the PlateStation was freakin' outdated when I got it, which is weird because I don't remember it being OPEN AT ALL until Nurvus went under, and that was the end of the week! If Nurvus goes down, and that opens as a result, how the heck are you supposed to do anything with that stuff? Gryf is the only one who uses an Axe (so far), so what am I going to do with it?

SELL SELL SELL

Maybe my timing was off. Did anyone get to take advantage of that stuff?

@Mop it up
@gojira

I sold 'em! (Moon Dew, Star Dew) Fat stacks of cash! (2500 and 5000 respectively!)

@gojira
@nate38
@Mop it up

Haha!! I haven't been doing the FAQ at all, just going off what you guys are saying. Its been pretty "easy" so far, not really getting lost besides totally whiffing on Monsen. I STILL couldn't find it (initially), even with directions. Koovaps is "guide" enough for me!
05/22/13, 05:16
@Mr_Mustache Yeah, you missed Monsen when you were supposed to be there. I did all that before going to Termi and beyond, so you're supposed to go there earlier, it looks like. And yes, there's a box in there containing a Skill for Demi.

As for items, money is so easy to come by in this game that I don't sell the unique stuff. I haven't seen a place to buy the Dews, so I've kept them all. Money can be had from any random encounter, but I may never get another special or unique item again!

On that note, is there a place to store items somewhere that I might have missed? I doubt there is, but just to be sure...
05/22/13, 05:24
@Mop it up

Store Items? Like a Bank? (Like some games have..) If thats what you mean, I don't think so.

And in one of the Dezolis towns last night, I was run broke from 80,000 to 0 buying equipment. Bye bye, Dews!
05/22/13, 05:26
Sounds like you just don't whack enough monsters!
05/22/13, 05:31
@Mop it up

Oh, I whack a ton, baby!
05/22/13, 07:15
What the.

I got the land rover.

Went back into the base thingy.

Came back out.

It's gone.

Went back in the base to see if it would be there again.

Nope.

Walked around a bit to see if it was in the area.

Nope.

NO IDEA WHERE IT IS.

/EDIT ok it is under items. What the heck?!

@Zero

Did you fight with it at all yet? I don't know if you missed it, but when using it, you get like NO Meseta. I mean, you get SOME, but not nearly as much.
05/22/13, 08:11
@Zero Ha ha, don't worry, the same thing happened to me. I guess it can fold up pretty neatly and fit in their pockets.
05/22/13, 09:12
Well that was annoying, was getting through the tower just fine, thinking hey, for once the game isn't forcing me to level-up... then the boss guarding the thingy just instantly obliterated me. His attacks could basically take people from max HP to dead with one hit... which means that I clearly need to level-up AGAIN because there is just literally nothing that I can do against him to stand a chance right now.

I'm honestly at the point where I'm thinking of just saying F it. This isn't really fun. It's just bad design.
05/22/13, 09:28
@Zero

Which Boss?

If it's Zio, well..lets just say it doesn't need to be that way. Want a Hint?
05/22/13, 10:22
No not Zio, some flying bug thing at the place where Rune was.
05/22/13, 10:30
@Zero

Oh my gosh, I'm sorry. I have no idea where you are. I don't remember. Still in Week 2?

Did you do Zio stuff yet? Are you in Ladybug Tower?
05/22/13, 10:32
Yeah week 2. How can you not remember, like I said it is where you meet up with that one person!
05/22/13, 10:34
@Zero

Wait. I might remember. Is it brown and look like a turd with wings?

You can do it! Dig deep! I think I had Rika doing constant GIRES.

EDIT- And I probably unloaded on him with Chaz doing Crosscut or whatever its called.
