X-Scape (Nintendo DSiWare) Review (9.0)  by
Hey, have any of you guys played this DSiWare game? X-Scape is kind of a spiritual successor to the SNES Star Fox. Made by Q-Games. Although I wouldn't say it is quite as good as SNES Star Fox, it's still a pretty interesting game in its own right, and it really stands out on DSiWare. Apparently it is a sequel to a Japan-only game called X... I keep bugging Dylan Cuthbert on his Facebook to bring X over in some form but somehow I don't see that happening anytime soon...

Since the OP didn't offer any thoughts, I will:

This was the first DSiWare game I bought on my 3DS. I didn't like it. =(

BAH, IN AFTER EDIT

Ha ha yeah sorry, ideally you would be able to post the game thread and your original message at the same time, but as I decided to just make it a quick link on the game page, there is no way to have the message come at the same time as well. Probably a better way to do this, might fix it up in the future.

I played it, it was okay, I didn't love the controls, seemed a little awkward. The visuals are beautiful though. It's not a bad game but it's no Link N' Launch!

I will definitely agree that the controls could have used some work. They were sort of awkward at best. But once you learn to manage them, the core gameplay itself is very good.

You guys are playing with the d-pad and buttons, correct? The controls are fine.

Obviously. They're still well... tank-like. Which makes sense, since you are a tank. But it's a bit more awkward than a tank-like system has to be.

I played through it. I thought it was okay. I used touch controls because I didn't know you could change it. It reminds me more of Starfox Command or from what I've heard of Starfox 2. Or the 'all range' mode in Starfox 64. Unfortunately those are the parts of Starfox I don't particularly like. I guess I'd rather ride the rollercoaster than go on the bumper cars.

I'd be interested in the original X as well since it looks pretty impressive for a Gameboy game.

I used the stylus! Am I remembering this game correctly it's been a couple years since I played it?

Also you're not really a tank tank, you're like a super sonic semi-flying tank, right?

Damn I should redownload this game.
