Just thought this title needed an official thread.
Yesterday, while browsing the interwebs at work, I found a hands-on of the game that mentioned something that I had not heard of anywhere else. Unfortunately, I don't remember where it was, but here's the gist...
Pikmin 3 now has an evade move! From Nintendojo "Handy, then, that our new lead character has a nifty dodge ability that sees both him and his band of Pikmin roll to the side in perfect unison whenever dangerís about to rear its ugly head. It took a while to master, especially since there seems to be a small amount of recovery time before you can initiate another one, but it brought a welcome sense of drama to the fights, as well as a greater feeling of control over your large army."
Let's give this launch window game some love! ERRR.....Releases August 4th!
Well, I tried to post the trailer. Thanks Renjaku!
Now lets take a look at Gamexplain of the newest video
I don't know about all the shame being over. I'm very glad it's coming, but honestly, I've felt like a bit of a chump for the last six months. The dangers of buying a console for a particular game--don't be like me, kids!
What do you all think of what was revealed today about Pikmin 3? There was a lot of story-related news. I like the idea in general. It's a bit more serious, exploring for food and seeds to try and save your planet, instead of exploring for bank. It also looks to be even more strategy-based, like they said. August 4th feels very far away.
I think it'll be very intuitive with the gamepad as the KopPad, for fast scrolling through the map, because you have three heroes that may be in different locations. It's gonna be a very rewarding game because it will require a lot of multitasking to do well. I am ok with the direction (plays more like Pikmin 2 than the original, from what I understood).
I wanted to hear more about the multiplayer modes. Hoping for two-player co-op (one on TV and one on gamepad), as well as some online component.
Sounds like it plays like Pikmin 2, but you have to find enough fruit to keep from starving, so there's still a strong incentive to find at least one item a day like in Pikmin 1. Some weird sort of compromise; I approve.
I want to know more about multiplayer, too! Multiplayer in Pikmin 2 was a lot of fun. I hope it's online so I can play with my far-away friends.
I approve of this time limit compromise as well! It gives the game some focus but doesn't have that stressful threat of having to restart the whole game over if you should fail... you can even watch the replay and see ways that you can tighten up your strategy.
I am definitely more excited for the game now than ever.
