Pikmin 3 Review (Nintendo Wii U) (9.8)  by

END AUTOMATED TEXT. THREAD CREATOR INFORMATION BELOW.

Just thought this title needed an official thread.

Yesterday, while browsing the interwebs at work, I found a hands-on of the game that mentioned something that I had not heard of anywhere else. Unfortunately, I don't remember where it was, but here's the gist...

Pikmin 3 now has an evade move! From Nintendojo "Handy, then, that our new lead character has a nifty dodge ability that sees both him and his band of Pikmin roll to the side in perfect unison whenever dangerís about to rear its ugly head. It took a while to master, especially since there seems to be a small amount of recovery time before you can initiate another one, but it brought a welcome sense of drama to the fights, as well as a greater feeling of control over your large army."

Let's give this launch window game some love! ERRR..... Releases August 4th!

Well, I tried to post the trailer. Thanks Renjaku!

Now lets take a look at Gamexplain of the newest video

I liked 2 more than 1 because of the limit being removed. I wouldn't mind objectives having a time limit, but the whole game having one again would not exactly make me happy.

Let us not forget you can STILL FINISH THE GAME WITHOUT OUT ALL OF THE PIECES. You just won't see everything the game offers (most likely just the final landing area/boss) and you'll get one of the 2 lesser endings. You don't get stuck in gaming limbo or a Game Over screen, you complete day 30 and either the Dolphin takes off or it doesn't.

I loved the time limit but others hated it. I think the best thing for Nintendo to do is to have it as an option.

But the time limit was fantastic. I have only beat the 1st one once but I have been meaning to go back and improve my time. My main problem is the second areas boss. I always lost tons of Pikmin on that thing.

I've read a lot about Nintendo wanting to make Pikmin 3 more like the first game. This scares me a bit because I did NOT like the 30 day time limit...
Posted: 01/07/13, 02:10:41
They need to make it so that if you complete within a certain number of days (x) you'll get the 100% end. If you complete within y number of days, you'll get the normal ending. And if you can't complete it by z days, your Pikmin will turn on you kinda like Magwais at midnight.

I couldn't find it in myself to make 3 screenshots into a news story like every other site is doing, so here you go:

Where's Waldo? Errr... Olimar and Louie? I mean, I've known there are a few (3) new leaders, but I guess I've always assumed they'd still be the main guys.

Could be Nintendo just wanted to show off the three n00bz.

I thought they weren't in this game. I mean, they may show up, but not playable.

I find it hard to believe they'd take out Olimar since he's a playable character in Smash and in Nintendoland. I could see Louie getting the boot, but not Olimar. Nintendo has done stranger things.

So when is this game coming out?

Some launch window this is...

I think the boy and woman in that picture are Olimar's kid and wife. I'll have to go back to Pikmin 2 and look at the letters to confirm.

@CPA Wei Then who is that other dude with his wife?

DUN DUN DUN.

Slightly off topic. Saw this the other day, but don't think anyone here has talked about it. Miyamoto producing animated animated Pikmin short films.

Pink flying pikmin were confirmed in today's worldwide Nintendo Direct.

Rumors say it's launching in Japan in July. If they don't release it in NA by the end of the year, the card I used for my preorder in October 2012 is going to expire.

awww those pink flying pikmin are adorable.

Pikmin's lack of a release date is Nintendo's ongoing shame. Despite all the amazingness of today, it can't be 100% joy because of this travesty.

@Jargon

It's confirmed to be August 4th.
