The new features make the DS game easier to manage, so it'd probably be a better choice for you. Most notably, in the NES game's Chapter 5, you can no longer control your party members in battle, and instead command only the Hero. In the DS game you can control them, and you can also still set them to the AI if you prefer it.
Yeah man, we'll do it "soon." Maybe we can tear through it in Backlaugust (we can run a DWIV thread independent of it)? I should be done with III (SOON) by then, and we'll be getting back from Chicago right before then. Or not. We can wait until September or something if you'd prefer?
So, I just read this entire thread again and I'm now caught up on what I've done. I think I:
-Still have to use the Book of Satori and Sage my Wizard -Equip him properly -Find 4 (!!!!) more Orbs
Do you know how much time I have left here? I think I'm right around that Dharma Temple or whatever it is. Also, it was just a few days between your "I can't talk without spoiling" post to your "Archfiend goes down!" post, haha. Less than 10 hours?
Haha, I can't really remember to be honest. I don't remember it being too long though.
I'm a little worried about my video gaming plate now that I'm out of school and have a full time job, but hopefully once I get settled in I'll get a better idea of how much time I have for gaming, both playing new stuff and catching up on old gems.
I hear that. I re'discovered' Metroid Prime 3 this afternoon. Now that I'm playing it again, I'm going to want to put a lot of time on it.
--Where would I easily be able to see which Orbs I have? Would they most likely be stored in the Bank, or are they special items that I can ALWAYS see, like, in a Status screen or something? I don't want to go looking for Orbs I already have, know what I mean?
I remember playing Zelda as a tiny kid in someone else's house, and the older boy who was there was helping me out. He went through the entire dungeon (I think it was the 6th one) only to find that the Triforce piece had already been collected, haha!! He was confused and seemed a little miffed about it (having wasted his time), but thinking back, I have no idea how he wouldn't know that based on a) the Triforce screen and b) the fact that the Compass marker wouldn't be glowing at all since the piece was no longer there. Ah well.
IF I had found them all, would I have ALL of them there, or the Item / Whatever they lead to?
Now that we're talking about it, I'm pretty sure I have more than two, but I don't know why i didn't report it that way. I'll get a clear answer tonight. Hopefully.
Alright, I confirmed today that I have the Green and Blue Orbs, but apparently no others. I already have the Book of Satori, my Wizard is L20, and I have the Water Blaster, too. Not sure if I did the Orochi stuff yet (I don't think so), but I have been to Jipang (as I can RETURN there). Apparently I can't (yet?) RETURN to the FIELD place. I'll have to investigate further.
My guys are like 24-23-23-20. Nintendo Power suggests waiting until L30 to change classes. Eek!
EDIT- The Noh Mask is apparently Cursed..and can be equipped by any class; "cannont cast spells outside of battle." Wouldn't this be like, the PERFECT Helmet for a Soldier??
Also, I think Phantasy Star IV spoiled me because walking today was like a Molasses Guy trudging through a Molasses Swamp.
I've been playing the GBC version of this game and...it's awesome! Lots to do, plenty of memorable stuff, and a geektastic late-game twist that's handled beautifully. Seriously, go into this blind for the best experience; I wish I hadn't known about some things ahead of time.
I'm very far in but there's still a bit left to do. I'm excited to keep playing--this might be one of the best games of the series for me. Even more impressive when you consider that it came out in 1988.
@Mr_Mustache, did you ever finish this? I can help you out with those Orbs if you need it.
