Top 5 titles on each of the systems that you've owned? [roundtable]

I was going to limit it to current systems to put the fading generation into perspective, but why not all of them? It'll give us some insight into our fellow members' taste, and perhaps their progression as a gamer (in my case, that should probably be LACK of progression).

I'll take my turn later. I have another roundtable to draft...

This was obviously a typo, but for some reason I laughed.

4. God of War: Chains of Prometheus

Did you mean Chains of Olympus? Or was there a God of War that I missed? (I wouldn't be surprised if I did, Sony loves cranking these things out...)

Yeah I actually own Ghost of Sparta (bought it for like, $10 at Gamestop. Never played it, though). But you're probably right, it's likely he meant Chains of Olympus.

@TheOldManFromZelda

Your lack of Gameboy/DS games is disturbing. Aren't you a Nintendo fan?!?
09/24/12, 18:09
@GameDadGrant

I never got into the old hand-helds. I had a Game Boy and a Game Boy advance, but never had the patience to truly enjoy them. The screens were too small for me to truly appreciate them.

That said, I do have a 3DSXL now, and I really enjoy it. The screens are big and bright. Basically, I've waited 20+ years for something like this to satisfy my handheld needs.

@TheOldManFromZelda

Well, better late than never, I suppose. Welcome to Nintendo handhelds!

Thats how we ROLL in Western NY, Grant!
09/24/12, 23:42
@Mr_Mustache

Ha ha, indeed! I suppose that's the nature of the beast, though. Gameboy screens had to be small, I suppose. Otherwise they wouldn't be very portable, eh? One couldn't really stick a 13" or 19" screen in one's backpack, let alone one's pocket. Am I right?

The Super Gameboy (and later, the Gameboy Player) remedied that "problem" so you guys don't have an excuse to not even try the classic Gameboy games!
09/24/12, 23:52
Hm, I'm not sure how successful I'd be at this. It's weird, but I can easily pick a single favourite for each system, but when it comes to the ones after that, I can never seem to decide. My answers seem to change depending on the day, my mood, etc. So for now, I'll just list my number ones.

NES: Super Mario Brothers 3
SNES: Earthbound
N64: Perfect Dark
GameCube: Super Smash Brothers Melee
Wii: Mario Kart Wii

Game Boy: Final Fantasy Adventure
Game Boy Color: Wario Land II
Game Boy Advance: Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga
DS: Super Mario 64 DS
3DS: ...Zelda II, I guess. Haven't played anything yet.

PlayStation: MTV Music Generator
PlayStation 2: Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King

Sega Genesis: Blaster Master 2

Xbox: Fusion Frenzy

@Davoid
It's true! I didn't really plan this out well... :( Maybe we should criticize each person's tastes, one at a time?

Henceforth, my list!~

Atari 2600
Berzerk, Combat, Adventure, Jungle Hunt, Moon Patrol

Commodore 64
Adventure Construction Set, Jumpman Jr., Impossible Mission, Winter Games, Street Sports Baseball

That was tough!

NES
Metroid, Super Mario Bros. 3, Bionic Commando, River City Ransom, Stinger (that's right, bitches - INSTEAD OF ZELDA... actually, I'll say Contra, instead)

Also incredibly tough. I could make a fucking Top HUNDRED list of NES games and still be going strong.

Super NES
Super Mario Kart, Super Metroid, Link to the Past, Super Mario World... this is too boring, so I'll add Mortal Kombat 2 as the wild card, since I played the living shit out of it.

N64
Perfect Dark, Mario Kart 64 (solely for Battle Mode), Micro Machines 64, Super Mario 64... The New Tetris or Paper Mario?

PS1
Wipeout XL, Point Blank 3, Ape Escape, Symphony of the Night... Crash Team Racing or Ridge Racer or Need For Speed?

For people with two guns and a bunch of willing participants, entries 1-5 would be Point Blank.

Gamecube
F-Zero GX, Mario Kart Double Dash, Animal Crossing, Super Mario Sunshine, Wario Ware Mega Microgame$

Pretty easy.

GBA
Metroid Fusion, Metroid Zero Mission, Wario Ware, Astro Boy: The Omega Factor... Rhythm Tengoku or Kururin Paradise or Aria of Sorrow?

Tough!

PS2
Amplitude, Maximo, Burnout 3, Devil May Cry... Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal?

DS
Yoshi's Touch and Go, New Super Mario Bros., Mario Kart DS, Contra 4, Mr. Driller!

Wii
Monster Hunter Tri, Twilight Princess, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Wii Sports, Super Mario Galaxy

Xbox 360
'Splosion Man, Earth Defense Force 2017, Crackdown, Blur... Prototype?

PC is too wide-ranging. Virtual Boy didn't have enough games. Saturn kind of sucked. And 3DS is too early. Yep.
09/25/12, 03:38
@GameDadGrant
Oops! Meant Donkey Kong 94... which isn't even the right title, it's just plain ole Donkey Kong. (I think, whatever it's called it's one of the best platformers ever created by mankind)

@Anand
Yoshi's Touch and Go!!!!! What a gem. It was so hard for me not to put that on my list, man.
09/25/12, 03:46
@deathly_hallows

I think the title screen actually says "Game Boy Donkey Kong", though I've never in my life heard anyone call it that.
09/25/12, 03:54
@deathly_hallows
YES. I originally had Picross on there, but it felt like something was missing. Then I was all, "Duh! Yoshi's Touch and Go! Still probably the best touch-based score attack game of all time!"

I'm pretty sure that I forgot a lot of favorites. I'll probably edit my lists later. But Yoshi will forever remain.
