September Retro Game Club IS BACK. Submissions Closed

You guys already know how this works. Submit a game from the Wii Virtual Console or 3DS Virtual Console, preferably with some info. Pics and videos are encouraged. You will have until the end of Monday Night 12am PST to submit a game. Voting will start on Tuesday Night and will end on Thursday Night. The game will be announced on Friday, August 31st. Then we can begin the Retro Game Club on Saturday, September 1st, 2012.

Here's a link to all Virtual Consoles games, to help you guys with your picks.

One submission per person. If you put more than one and do not decide which will be you official submission before the submission deadline, none of your submissions will count. No exceptions.

Here's what we have so far

NES
Super Mario Bros. 3

SNES
Kirby's Dream Course

Game Boy
Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters
Mole Mania
Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3

Genesis
Dynamite Headdy
Shinobi III

*If a game happens to be in another console, you can play it there too as long as the game is not too different and as long as it's also available in the Nintendo Virtual Console. Just mention it when we start playing. Example: Donkey Kong Country is available for the SNES and the GBA.

P.S.: If I'm missing any games mentioned let me know.

@nate38 It might actually be the game that wins. If the maybe option did not exist I would have voted a definitive No on Monster World IV and something else might have won. I think it actually won by one vote. We'll see what the people decide in the poll and go from there.

P.S. There needs to be some accountability if you say you're going to participate during the voting stage and then don't.

I fully endorse this. As well as signing up for anything else and not participating in it. Whyyyyyyyy.

I would like to nominate...

Super Mario Bros. 3 (500 Points): Remember when no one had ever heard of a Tanooki Suit or knew that Bowser had a clan of Koopalings? The game that made these things common knowledge is also considered by many to be one of the best ever made. Bowser and the Koopalings are causing chaos yet again, but this time they’re going beyond the Mushroom Kingdom into the seven worlds that neighbor it. Now Mario and Luigi must battle new enemies, returning favorites, and a new Koopaling in each unique and distinctive world on their way to ultimately taking on Bowser himself. Lucky for the brothers, they have more power-ups available than ever before. Fly above the action using the Super Leaf, swim faster by donning the Frog Suit, or defeat enemies using the Hammer Bros. Suit. Use the brand-new overworld map to take the chance to play a minigame in hopes of gaining extra lives or to find a Toad’s House where you can pick up additional items. All this (and more) combines into one of gaming’s most well-known and beloved titles—are you ready to experience gaming bliss?

Accountability is nice, but I also don't think we should discourage participation. If we start penalizing people for not following through, I get the feeling they'd be less likely to come back to the club altogether. We're already hurting enough for participation as it is without penalizing people...

@nate38

What is the best way to "make" someone participate who signs up for something? I'm open for suggestions.

40% of the Movie Club folks who signed up didn't watch / report / select once. Ridiculous.
If that 40% didn't sign up, 100% of the Movie Club folks would've participated.

So...that means the same number of people would have participated, right?

Haha, I know it's not as simple as that, since something more favorable to the ACTUAL participants might have been voted in if the no-shows hadn't voted. But I think the best way to do things is to make it crystal clear that people should only vote YES if they will definitely play the game. We're trying to select the game that will get the most guaranteed participation, so it helps if everybody knows what their vote means.

As for punishment, I don't think weighing participants votes higher than non-participants is the path to maximum participation. Maybe just include people who voted YES in the discussion thread post to remind them that they signed up. Worst case scenario, some light PUBLIC SHAMING could be applied.
