Why not sign up for a (free) account?

btw, 9272, my new top score.

This is not good enough. I've gotta do a montage to Stan Bush's "You Got The Touch" and get my skills up to a respectable level.

EDIT: 9934, now. This would be a heck of a lot easier with leaderboards.

@Hinph
I wouldn't worry too much about NSMBU. It seems to be an extension of NSMBWii while NSMB2 is straight-up from the original NSMB in the gameplay department.

@kriswright
I have to set aside some time tonight and up my score.

@kriswright@kriswright

Indeed. Then maybe my score might actually get updated properly .

Got up to 5564 in Mushroom Pack tonight.

It wasn't easy.

@GameDadGrant
It's all about that triple-jump, man! Triple-jump that flagpole till it can't see straight!
08/23/12, 04:38
Triple jump nothing! It's all in the momentum and timing!

.....also the triple jump.

Man, the secrets are TOUGH in this game. I haven't found the secret exists in W1 or W2, and I'm missing 1 or 2 star coins so far in those worlds.

@rebonack

Hey, I've always bitched about all the COD games, ect. I just don't complain about them on NW, since this is a Nintendo board.

I have never played the DS version of NSMB

Those games, esp the DS was a homage to great side scrolling series from Nintendo's beginnings.

wat

And why are you "wating" me for at the bottom of your post in reference to my 2 comments about never playing the first NSMB for the DS and then the 'homage' comment?

Wats the wat mean?

@Guillaume
I found the secret exit in W1 but there is a single star coin that is driving me nuts! Yet I refuse to FAQ it!

In 1-A, right? Third Star Coin?
08/23/12, 07:27
@TriforceBun

Nope! Found that one relatively quickly. Well, after going through the level a couple of times.
08/23/12, 08:07
@Guillaume

If it's 1-Tower, that's the only coin so far that took me way too long to finally find, heh.
08/23/12, 08:10
@Guillaume

I got the star coins, but yeah, the secret exits (and some of the star coins) are maddening. Very cleverly hidden, particularly Flower-3 (if I'm remembering right). That level's secret exit was pretty brilliant.

@gamewizard65 You said "especially" as if there were specific reasons that the DS game is a more successful homage to the NES games, but you said it right after you said you'd never played it. My mistake if I misunderstood.

Why is getting to the top of the flagpole so much fucking harder in this game?? They often give you shit space to build up for a jump or sprint. What up with that? What am I missing?
08/23/12, 20:25
@carlosrox
They set up the flagpole for a momentum-powered triple-jump. You're usually supposed to start way before the "stairs."

Frustrating at first, but it feels great when you pull it off.
08/23/12, 20:32
They always seem to have those tiny steps in front of it though. In the other games it was designed just fine. Only in this game do I think they made it too hard. How am I suppose to triple jump off those tiny ass steps with no room to move?
08/23/12, 22:28
@carlosrox

Not to mention frequent hazards and stuff on the stairs. But ploot's right, it feels great when you pull it off. I've never really bothered to get super good at sticking the jumps, but I'm working on it now to get better at Coin Rush mode.
08/23/12, 22:33
@kgtennispro

Yeah that was a bitch for me to find too. I *scoured* that level like half a dozen times. before I finally "caught" the location.

"So if Coin #1 is here and Coin #3 is here, Coin #2 must be somewhere here....so where the fuck is it?!"

Maddening.

@carlosrox

Thank fuck it's not just me! I thought I was just having trouble adjusting to the jump again. Now I can blame horrible design.

@kriswright

I'm not sure, but I think I liked 'Dare' better . Still the entire soundtrack for that movie was awesome.

Please don't tell me your parents banned you from seeing it after characterizing it as one big Transformer advertisement
