END AUTOMATED TEXT. THREAD CREATOR INFORMATION BELOW.

I believe I've owned every Madden on a Nintendo console since 2001 (with the best being 2005, I might add) and this is the version I've looked most forward to in a long time with the launch of the Wii U. I even owned it twice in 2006 when the Wii was released! It's unfortunate "we" won't be able to play with the new "Infinity Engine" they are using with the 360 and PS3 versions but it seems like it's going to be a massive upgrade to the Maddens we have played on the Wii.

"EA is bringing many of the key Madden 13 features to Wii U, which is being developed by a dedicated team. Ideas like Total Control Passing, Girdiron Club and the new commentators are on the way. Plus the integration with Wii U's GamePad will allow players to make faster play calls, substitute players and create custom hot routes on the fly, changing the way sports fans will interact with a Madden game. Another key feature being brought to Wii U is Connected Careers, which allows up to 32 players to form a league. Bialoskursky noted that online is a big emphasis for Nintendo this time around, aligning with EA's own interests for its sports titles. On the downside, however, the Madden Ultimate Team feature will not be present this time around."

I can't wait to use this game with the GamePad!

The Madden NFL 13 Wii U version will utilize the tablet controller in various ways. During a match, players can quickly swift through the interactive playbook to call plays on the fly. They cal also use the Wii U stylus to trace the route for a player to run on the field. The Madden NFL 13 Wii U version will also include most of the regular game modes, including career, manage a team, Connected Career mode, and online multiplayer as well. However, the game will not support the new Infinity physics engine, as developer EA did not have enough time to implement this feature.

The idea of being able to choose your play without your friend in the room being able to see or draw pass routes on the GamePad is awesome. I can't wait. See you online with the RAIDERS!

Good game. Yet another game with a crazy momentum shift. Trying to stop Peterson is a nightmare.

Yeah. I'm thinking I'm going to have to start relying on him more often. My receiving corps is just so unreliable. They either drop wide open passes, or slip and fall, or totally zone out on what they are supposed to do. It's baffling.

I'd feel bad just spamming runs, so I tried to mix in a more balanced attack. It didn't work. No more feeling bad! AP All The Time from now on!

As for practice?

I find the practices boring and a waste of time. I wish they'd eliminate that stuff.

The only thing to be careful of is not to run him so much you get him injured like Joweke did in fantasy league. I couldn't blame you for making him 80% of your offense though.

I use John Clay (some Power Back my "guys" drafted me) to breath Marshawn a little bit. Works nice!

Anyone's game been hard crashing on startup? When it gets to the screen about all the updates etc. before the main menu? It happened 3 times yesterday, so I didn't even get a chance to play...

@TheOldManFromZelda

Yep, happened to me last week about 2 or 3 times as well at that same screen. I had to unplug the power from the Wii U altogether to get it back. Thankfully I eventually got it to work, but I was afraid there for a moment that my game was fucked.

I have no idea what causes it, but lately I've been letting the (unnecessary) flashy menu just start up without pressing anything, and I haven't had any trouble the last couple of times I've started it up. I was thinking maybe I was pressing back before the menu was ready for doing anything, and it would crash. No idea, though.

EDIT: I had a silly game yesterday against the_red_rider (Bengals). I scored 3 70+ yard rushing touchdowns using the goalline RB slam, but where they couldn't stop my running game, I couldn't stop their passing attack if my life depended on it. I had to start blitzing a lot more because coverage wasn't getting it done and Brees was picking me apart. I was down 28-21 or something like that, and I fumbled in the red zone and that was pretty much the end of me. I couldn't catch up without throwing it at that point, and ugh, I'm so bad at it.

I cancelled getting connected to the internet on startup of the game, then connected once I got to the main menu and that resolved the issue. Stupid EA.

UGH. Servers are HORRIFIC tonight. Twice I froze looking for STUPID EA NEWS (you know what a good story would be? "We've fixed the F'n servers."), I cancelled the other two (meant to cancel three, but one snuck through somehow); those decided to EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE on me when I went to do Practice. F'N A.

I'll try again tomorrow afternoon APPARENTLY.

Yeah. The EA news thing before getting to the main menu is causing considerable headaches. But, pushing 'cancel' before it gets a chance to log in, AND THEN signing in once getting to the main hub seems to get rid of that hard crash.

And Rob, for what it's worth, I noticed considerable lag and frame rate issues when playing you, but not when playing others. Maybe you don't have a strong connection?

It was weird playing two league games against computer opponents this week!

Really? I had no issues with you at all. How can that be? Would it make sense for it to be smooth for me the entire time, but chuggy for you? I don't see how.. Anyway, the Internet that I have is the best I'm getting. Its like another 25 bucks a month for the next tier!

I've got a Bills BYE and a CPU Cards in Draft..so two BYEs basically. I shouldn't say that -- surprises are everywhere!

..like eyes of Ganon.....
Posted: 01/28/13, 23:31:52
It makes sense. It's normal for you because you've reached your peak speed, so mine has to regress, and effectively become choppy on my end. You wouldn't notice it at all.

Sorry.. You're Rich, Bitch! I italicized that because it looks like a quote. Is it not?

I don't think you're a bitch....

So the system only freezes when the servers are down? Why does it seem to let you connect then?

I stopped connecting to the internet on start-up because that seemed to mess it up so I started cancelling that and connecting "manually". Then earlier today, even THAT wouldn't work. I'd cancel the EA News and everything it was still freeze. I went to load up a game (in an online career) and it froze there.

So frustrating!

I had a freeze IN-GAME tonight. Just stopped for no reason. Sound kept rolling. I thought it was just choking, but no. Stinks. I had a colorful game going, too. Luke Kuechly opened the game with two TFLs', the 2nd being a forced fumble scooped and scored w/ Patrick Willis. Next drive I had an INT with my 4th Corner (NICE), and then I had a 30 yard STRIKE to Lee Evans for a tough touchdown. So I lost that game.

I followed it up by BARELY BEATING THEM. I was losing until the final 2 minutes. Horrible. I did get a Safety though..and missed 2 of my Coach Goals, blah. My Legacy is up to 70 though, and 2nd best of the users, best of the new coaches. SEEMS ABOUT RIGHT, YEAHHHHHHH.

I totally mauled the Bucs last night. AP put up another 250, and Ponder had an efficient game, throwing for 4 TDS. I used that game as an opportunity to use the Wablet to set blitzes and coverage on defense, and it was pretty fun. Definitely much easier pressing and dragging on the screen, than pulling up a bunch of menus just to change the play up. Very awesome. Im ready for the Madden Cup.

Where do you even find these goals?

They're hidden. I have no idea what you're talking about when you talk about personal goals and stuff.

Maybe that's why I suck at Zelda. I was never good at "I Spy"

PS - You're on Twitter?
