(I decided to leave out the arcade games for this poll, sorry).

As a result of leaving out the Mario Kart series from the 'What's your favorite Mario sports game' poll (as well as people clamoring for the option to vote for it), I decided to have a separate poll to determine: What is your favorite Mario Kart game? We've all had the chance to sink some time into Mario Kart 7, so let the battle commence! Thanks sirmastersephiroth for the suggestion!

As an added treat, if you click on the box art for one of the games below, you will be directed to the game's Negative World database entry to see what the average rating is by Negative World users (you can rate the game too if you haven't done so already)!

@Davoid

I'll admit, Bob-Omb Blast was kind of a fun mode. Total chaos on the Gamecube stage/arena. The best battle course in Double Dash!! was Luigi's Mansion, IMO.

@Mop it up

I might have to fire up Toadstool Tour and give it a look. I remember the character models in Mario Power Tennis looking really good, too.

For me, my favorite is Mario Kart 7. I played Wii but I didn't really get into it.

I greatly prefer the graphics in Double Dash to those in Mario Kart Wii. They're more visually appealing and less generic and bloomy, the framerate is higher, and the animations have so much more vibrance.

@GameDadGrant
Hey, if you accept games like Smash Bros. that rely on items and positional placement and the shape of the level, how much further do you have to go to accept Mario Kart Battle Mode? It's mano-a-mano. I can see why you might raise and eyebrow, but the spirit of competition in Mario Kart feels very similar to a fighting game to me.

I'd say Mario Kart 64 battle mode relies on chance less than Smash Brothers even. There are only so many items you can get and if you don't get the one you want it is easy enough to avoid people until you do. Especially once it gets down to the final two.

I've never really loved Battle Mode all that much due to the controls. The karts were mainly built to go fast and take tight turns, but when you have to start making wide turns and stopping/starting and such, it just feels kinda funky...like part of a worse game or something.

Oddly, I was pretty addicted to Super Mario Kart's back in the day.

@GameDadGrant Yeah, Mario Power Tennis has great characters too. Camelot really did make the best Mario games during the N64 and GameCube era, it's a shame they're faded into obscurity.
