So, E3 is just a couple of weeks away and we will finally know a lot more about the Wii U. Do you think Nintendo will keep the current Wii U name? Or will it listen to fans and change it?

I think they'll keep it.

They are keeping the name.I think its about time people came to accept it and move on.

They've come too far. They must keep it.

I still want my Nintendo Revolution.

I hate the name, but I'm under no illusion that they'll change it.

If they want to attract the "hardcore" crowd like they say they do, they'll change it. But I'm thinking they won't.

What would they change it to though? They're absolutely not going to remove the "Wii" part. The old rumours about "Super Wii" and such are interesting, but I dunno. I think they'll just stick with what they have.

I've lost hope that they will change the name to Super Wii.

I hope not.

I wouldn't be surprised either way. Nintendo is known for Code Names and console name changes after all:

and

The Wii was given a final name a mere 8 months before release. Same thing with the Nintendo 64. Heck, the Nintendo 64 had one Code Name (Project Reality) and two "Final Names" (Ultra 64 and then Nintendo 64).

There are rumors for both name changes. There's even a rumor that says Iwata had trouble pronouncing the name Revolution.

Whatever the case, we will know the truth soon enough. I highly doubt they would change the name after E3, though. So whatever name it has during E3 will more than likely be the official one.

So this is my wishful thinking:

Code Name: Project Cafe

Final Name: Wii U

Real Final Name:

I'd rather it be called Nintendo U than WiiU or Wii2.

Sorry Anon, but Super Wii sounds terrible IMO.

Or they will half ass it to appease everyone
WiiU2 Disc Drives will Rattle & Hum this Holiday Season

I think they will keep it. They already announced it, plus I think they want to live off of the Wii-hype.

Regardless of what they call it, even if, Pile O' Shit 4 U, I will buy it!

@gamewizard65 I'm 99% sure they will keep the Wii part to live off the Wii hype. It's the U part I'm not sure about.

@sirmastersephiroth Wii Squared eh? Hmm.....

@sirmastersephirothWiiNES because it will get more viral with 2nd grade humor than Wii did 7 years ago.

Yes. With Final Fantasy 7 Remake as a pack-in.

Wii U is stupid and doesn't speak to the audience they claim they're going for. THAT's my problem with the name (at least, my main problem).

What was wrong with Wii 2?
