I'm at 84.1% and the treasure hunts are becoming harder and harder, for sure. (And I still can't beat a 9.0, I'm awwwful) I'm still far away from getting close to your completion rate, @VofEscaflowne, but, wow, I'm getting so much fun out of this game it's insane. I didn't realize how much good stuff I could get from fusing gems. I was glad I could afford it. I tried out a Pudgy Palm I fused, with a value of 304. I like its stats, but unfortunately its Ranged is only 1.5 star. I'm contemplating fusing my Pudgy Palm and Burning Palm (V317) to get a Taurus Arm, value 303, with Ranged 4 star and Melee 6 star. The only drawback is less than stellar stat bonuses. Hm. Post game content spoiler: I tried the Boss Battle (essentially a Boss Rush) and it starts out easily enough. On my first attempt I cleared 22 bosses and died at Hades' Heart. What's the deal with this boss? After I get some hits in, the heart chases me at a high speed and I can't avoid getting hit! I know I'm doing something wrong... |

I completely agree with Sakurai, except I wouldn't say it's "impossible" to develop the game with dual analogue. But it sure would be bass-ackwards, considering the speed necessary to actually compete in the game. I've put in 90 hours into Uprising so far, and the controls actually feel very good now. True, that's a steep learning curve, but there's no way I can see an analogue stick replacing the precision of the stylus flicking and moving for the amount of view shifting and reticle adjusting required for the game. And I'm a lefty playing with his right hand! Yes, I agree that the controls take some serious getting used to, but dual analogue would not be an improvement at all. After a few hours, moving the stylus to aim felt very natural for me, and I can't imagine it working any other way, save for Wii pointing and/or mouse aiming. I almost wish the stick option WAS included just so that people could get decimated by stylus users online. This game is still addicting. I've got something like 98% complete on the file and roughly 75% of all the treasure hunt panels filled. I've 9.0'd the following chapters (chapter number spoilers): 1 through 9, 15, 16, 20. Yet the search for the perfect weapon continues (love my Eyetrack Orbitars though!). |

The controls are efficient, but also demanding and ergonomically unnatural. I've put about 45 hours into the game (94.5%, progress is getting slow) and I still haven't found a position that I would call comfortable, usually ending any extended play session with slight discomfort in my neck. It doesn't cramp my hand like it did at first, but I still kind of dread getting out the stand and clearing off my teeny tiny cluttered desk. I definitely don't begrudge anyone who can't or doesn't want to get used to the controls, and although dual analog would obviously be inferior, I still wish it were an option if I ever wanted to play the game in a relaxed manner. The fact that it requires a stand really sticks out to me that it shouldn't have been a handheld game (and also kinda rules it out as a "portable" game, doesn't it?). Would have been much better suited to Wii. @Guillaume People got used to SF2 controls on SNES back in the day because there was no alternative. (And people rightfully bitch about playing fighting games with four-button controllers and the awful D-pads we have nowadays) KIU could have easily included dual analog with the circle pad pro, or at least patched it in by now, but it was left out. I suppose it was thoughtful of Sakurai to include the D-Pad move and circle-pad aim option for people with two thumbs on their left hand, though. But I imagine that a lot of the people bitching about the controls have never actually played the game and never planned to. The internet just really likes to get mad about stupid things. @roykoopa64 Yeah, that boss is the one that gives me the most trouble. I dodge through it when it charges, but eventually I get trapped by the decoy/bomb version somehow. Barely scraped by it on my first trip through the boss rush. |
