Rhythm Heaven Fever (Nintendo Wii) Review (9.2)  by

Post your Endless Mode high scores here!

Amidst all the excitement about a certain Capcom 3DS title, a peculiar gem has snuck right up on us. That's right, it's a new game for the Wii, priced at a very attractive $29.99!

Fans of the DS title Rhythm Fever probably have a good idea of what to expect, and should also already be in the know of how fun this series is. To those who haven't experienced it, it's basically a madcap collection of songs, each presented in their own unique minigame. Created by the team that brought you the manic WarioWare series, each of these minigames are highly amusing and come packed with funny and/or cool surprises. You essentially use just two buttons, tapping or holding to the beat, in amusing, inventive ways. In addition, after every four songs or so, you'll encounter a remix stage where you gameplay styles shift rapidly between stages you've done as an original song plays.

The DS game was packed with quite a bit of content for a title like this, and the Wii version promises to be no different. It also supports a 2-player mode! So don't forget about this one, it's sure to be a fun time~

EDIT: Argh, I can never link videos right! Why can't it just be "video tag" (youtube URL) "/video tag"?

Why not sign up for a (free) account?

Apparently I still had $12 on a Walmart gift card from wayyyyyy back when I bought my PS3 so I used that and bought the game today. Probably won't try it out until I finish Zelda though.

I'm through Remix 5, with about 3/4ths medals and three or four perfects. I wish you could get Perfects at any time instead of waiting for the designated ones...I've finished three or four songs first-time with no mistakes, but I ALWAYS choke when it counts!

Really loved Remix 3. Love Rap is definitely the toughest for me, I can only manage an OK in that despite trying three or four times for a medal. I just can't get the timing for each phrase down and switch around without losing a beat.

The toys and endless games are cool too. I can't figure out what the 8-beat Hi-Hat song is, maybe it's from the GBA game? The alarm clock game was surprisingly fun as well, though it doesn't seem to get any harder once you pass the eighth or ninth try...I started typing this post around then and cruised to 16 or so before I slipped up my count.

But yeah...this game is just pure joy (and so intense!).

Checked Walmart and it wasn't there. Boo.

@ploot

I did the same thing yesterday. Not having this game is killing me.

Oh man, I want this game. I want to play through the first two first though. There's an import and retro game store in my area, I'll call there tomorrow. Does anyone know if the Japanese Rhythm Heaven DS has more content than the NA and PAL one?

I'm really enjoying this game so far. I finally got to Ringside, and it's as hilarious as I was hoping! The Remixes are fun as always and this seems like a good batch of games so far. I hope there're more songs with lyrics, though--those were among my favorites in the DS RH. That Frog Hop was hilarious.

@cozzin
I don't see why it would, although I do know the NA Rhythm Heaven Fever is missing one of the Japanese RHF's Endless games (the Manzai Birds) because of cultural differences. They did replace it with another one ("Mr. Upbeat"), so it's not exactly LESS content...but the birds seemed like a lot of fun, even if I was just playing in Japanese. I mean, look at them!

@TriforceBun

That bird stage looks awesome. Shame it wasn't in the NA version.

Finished all the songs! There are - - - ten - - - Remixes to get through, unless I'm missing some super secret games. I'll go for all medals (I have 33 right now), not sure about Perfects yet...I know there's going to be a few of those that just won't compute for me, like the Love Raps and the final song.

Played up to Remix 7 last night. This is easily one of my favorite Wii games and one of the most enjoyable titles of the generation. What a wonderful gem.

Just about to crack this one open, and hopefully some multiplayer tomorrow.

So far Eric and I played four of the two-player games and got all the medals- 'Superb'

My favorite two-player so far is the Monkey Tambourine, but the funniest is by far the Ringside! "Oh, you go big guy!"

I day 1'd this because I let Rhythm Tengoku go floating down the streams of Goozex, never to be seen again. I loved it, but I love being able to read what I'm doing even more.

Just a PSA to you rhythm game fans - do not forget about this one, which launches later this month:

Got al the medals in the first two columns. My favorite game so far is See-Saw, even though I can't seem to get the timing down perfectly for it.

I finally found the game!!! Will play for a bit................... NOW!

I finally found the game. At The Source of all places.

It's been pretty fantastic so far, though it's annoying to have to get medals in single player to unlock the 2-player games. They're fun!

When the game tells you "If you get a Perfect right now, you'll unlock...", does that mean that if you get a Perfect without that special thing popping up, you don't unlock the gift?

Yeah, such is the harsh truth of the Rhythm Heaven series. You have three shots to Perfect that game, and if you mess up (which will happen, considering the difficulty), you'll have to wait until the next time the game lets you go for a Perfect to get the P Medal and your gift.

Perfecting it outside of those times doesn't do anything. :(

The silver lining is (spoilers) after getting medals for every game, you'll always have one game you can go for a perfect on at some point (although the game still chooses which one that is).
