You guys are getting me hyped!

Amazon shipped the thing yesterday, I sure hope I get it tomorrow!

The computer isn't nearly as infuriating as in MKWii. I was able to get gold in all the 150cc cups on my first try.
That's a good thing because the meat of the game is the multi. Yay!

I love this game. The only thing I hate is how much 3d plus online play kills the battery. Ima need to learn to not play in 3d for this game.l it doesn't change much. I think the graphics could be better but that may be because of scaling back for multiplayer. Ging from Mario 3d land with its amazing graphics coming to this you see a noticeable difference in quality.

@ploot

Hey Ploot, what do you mean by a "Rally" course? I watched a video of the rainbow road and I didnt notice anything different about it compared to normai tracks.

Also, a few people mentioned about being able to outboost the blue shell. I read where someone mentioned this was possible on the WIi version, but I thought it was also possible on another version. Anyways, my point is, I was never ever able to avoid the blue shell in whatever Mario Kart game it was that you was able to avoid being hit by the blue shell.

Sounds like everyone is content with their game, though I don't notice anyone going on like OMG, this is the best Mario Kart ever. Regardless, I will still buy it. I def.want to be able to get involved in some tournaments with you guys.

@roykoopa64

I am ashamed at myself for not thinking of that myself. You sir, I thank.

@gamewizard65

I think it's definitely one of the bests, perhaps the best handheld one. But I need to keep playing.

@DrFinkelstein

I understand that people are just starting with it. I personally thought the DS version was the best out of all of them, but that also may have been cause it had online play as well.

After one grand prix, my hand already feels cramped.

I'm guessing I'm holding it wrong somehow, heh.

Okay so I couldn't resist, I took a break from work and ran out and bought it, I've only played a few races so far but I have to say I'm in love, it's super fun, my brief impressions:

> Graphics are gorgeous, the game looks crisp and colorful and beautiful, the 3-D is subtle and works well (seems like with this game and Super Mario 3D Land they're really starting to figure out how to do 3-D effectively), they really did a bang up job with the visuals, the best looking Mario Kart by a landslide victory.

> Kart customization is a cool touch, I was giddy when I unlocked my first part.

> The glider is awesome, the underwater part is cool too.

> Coins are back, yay! Although you can only collect 10... I seem to remember in the SNES/Super Circuit games you could have unlimited, though maybe I'm wrong, and I guess eventually your speed has to max out right?...

> Handling, speed, and balance seems spot-on, though time will be true test...

> New courses are awesome so far (except maybe Wuhu Island, that one is just okay), new items are pretty cool, nothing too amazing but welcome additions, tanooki tail might be a little hard to use to hit other karts, haven't been able to pull it off yet.

> Music, sound, and presentation are great, the channel interface is really cool looking.

> Haven't tried online yet but will later this week.

All in all it's amazing, I love it, I spent probably 100 hrs playing Mario Kart DS, will definitely be playing this version for a long time to come. Yay Kart!

I definitely missed the ability to see what items your enemies have.

It's always nice to at least know ahead of time when I'll be screwed by a blue shell, heh.

@gamewizard65
A rally course doesn't go in a circuit. It's a race from one point to the next, not necessarily ending where it began,
I really enjoyed the Wuhu tracks for doing this, along with tha 'road.

@deathly_hallows
Coins have always maxed at ten.

Glad you're enjoying it too! I need to get back to it, but it is hurting my hand. I might need to buy that weird accessory that makes the 3DS like a "real controller."

Oh are we spoiler marking track names?

In that case; Waluigi Pinball is absolutely fantastic in this game.

EDIT: Wow....not sure how I feel about the join a friend option. I just tried joining you ploot since it said it was joinable, then I got a message saying the room was full, but it still threw me into spectator mode. And now I can't just quit out either...

EDIT2: I got Blue Shelled in 3rd place. I call shenanigans! ;p

EDIT3: REVENGE on Daisy's Cruise ship! ;x

EDIT4444: Awesome races ploot! I reallyyyy had to go the bathroom though so I bailed. I'll look to see if you're still going when I come back, heh.

Haha, good times indeed! I decided to take a break myself because my hands HURT! I will be back on later tonight though.

Also, I wasn't spoiler tagging the track names (well, I guess I was but...), it was meant to tag which ones are rally and which aren't. But I guess that's a little anal. No more tags from me!

I feel like you can't really spoil Mario Kart.
12/05/11, 02:25
@ploot

That Kratos guy was a beast.

And I definitely need to spend some time on these courses. There are some routes that I assume to be shortcuts, but then I see everyone passing me by, heh.
12/05/11, 02:27
My big issue was I decided to try out an unlockable character that run, and he didn't work out so well. I need to play some offline and determine who to be/what kart/etc. I WAS playing as Koopa Troopa before, and I may go back.
12/05/11, 02:39
@kgtennispro

The only thing I think we need to maybe spoiler tag is unlockable characters. There's no unlockable tracks so I don't see the point since after a day or two everyone's gonna have seen the tracks. Unless someone has an objection, lets not worry about track names, only unlockable characters. The main set is fair game of course.

---

Also, I'm really gonna need to try the online with some people soon... who is in? At like 8:30 or 9?

---

And OMG, speaking of tracks, they so did Koopa Troopa Beach right! Plus, the retro rainbow road is pretty great. I never played that one originally but it runs great now!

@ploot

Nooooo, he's mine! ;p

And yeah; I'm just working my way up through 50cc first collecting coins to unlock parts. That way by the time I even start unlocking anyone I'll have a wide range of parts to use
12/05/11, 02:44
@kgtennispro
Hehe...
I couldn't help myself. I needed to get all the characters I could! I do want to try them all out and see how they play.

@DrFinkelstein
I'm game in a bit, but you will run into unlockable characters playing online. Just be warned!
12/05/11, 02:52
Do we know how many unlockables there are?

Is there any more than the following I already heard about through various means...
Honey Queen & Metal Mario & Shy Guy & Wiggler?

When even Nintendo Power announced these characters, I assumed there were more that they didn't admit to...
