Really? I remember jumping on his head all three times. Maybe he's just quicker the third time around and you have to start slashing right when you land, or he has to be stunned with a bomb? Either way I don't remember ever hacking at his feet. |

Didn't work for me,I jumped on him and landed right next to the seal thing on his head, but it instantly threw me off,so I figured that trick wouldnt work this time. The only way to attack him this time seemed to be by bombing him first. |

Finished the game and will move my discussion mostly to the "finished" thread. The game was amazing, but yes, for now, I'd say a little disappointing.
One thing in particular really bugged me. I mentioned awhile ago that I had a theory about one of the characters.
Only read if you've finished the game I fucking SWORE Groose was going to be Ganon. Honestly. If this never occured to you or you think this sounds stupid, take a moment and really analyze it. He fucking LOOKS like Ganon (red hair, big, strong, obsessed with power, ambition, YELLOW eyes, these brown gloves) first off, and the game pays entirely too much attention to him. The Old Impa implies multiple times that "he has a bigger part to play", he envies Link, he's obsessed with Zelda. Then there's all this talk about Demise needed to be resurrected and all that. Seeing as this game was advertised as an origin story, I thought it all made so much sense. I was ready for Groose to become Ganon, but not out of his own will. I don't mean he was Ganon in disguise, but rather he would be possessed somehow by Ganon, or he'd BECOME Ganon. I am SO so SO SOOOOO disappointed that Groose was not Ganon, honestly. It SHOULD have been him. Part of me thinks they wanted to trick you he was gonna be Ganon or something. All the signs I just mentioned are super weird. And as an origin story it would have made tons of sense for these 3 to be in close proximity considering the nature of the Triforce and how all 3 are bound together forever. Then add in how all 3 characters interact with eachother. Maybe they were considering it early on? Honestly. I refuse to believe that this wasn't done on purpose. In the end, why was so much attention payed to Groose if he was just another side character in the game? He even mentioned early on how he wanted to be strong, wanted to be the hero, ETC! And which Triforce piece does Ganon hold? POWER. What does Ganon want? POWER. To be stronger and to rule everyone!
HONESTLY!!! Am I the only one who noticed this? He even has that ruby on his chest while Ganon (in OOT at least) had a ruby on his damn head. Am I crazy, reading into things too much, or am I onto something? Honestly, that would have been an amazing origin story to tell if Ganon was good at one point and became corrupted because he wanted to be stronger, he WANTED to be good. Sorta like Anakin in Star Wars. Huge missed opportunity and it shows I am better than Nintendo.
Can I get some thoughts on this? I really wanna know what others think of my idea. |

@carlosrox Your theory would actually be awesome, because of everything you said, AND since Zelda is the Goddess in a girl's body. Ganon could be doing the same, only possessing someone instead of willingly being revived into a person. Because, you know, he's evil. It would be perfect! I would actually prefer that, Ganon possessing a random dude, instead of a random dude becoming evil himself. But of course it didn't happen. Instead we get a generic bad guy huge evil monster person that is heavily implied to be Ganon. |

Thanks a ton guys. I expected to be flamed/called an idiot for thinking that. I honestly thought it was an amazing idea, and secretly knew it was too good for Nintendo to use, as horrible as that sounds. @GelatinousEncoreI'm totally with you. That would have been the most amazing origin story and would have made Groose that much more awesome, and he'd be a tragic character. What would be even better would be if Ganon himself was never his own character, but a product of this evil force (Demise or whatever it is) and a good person. Or if Groose was seduced by the idea of power. Such a monstrously missed opportunity. I think it would have transformed Zelda forever, and for the much much better. Breaks my fuckin' heart that they didn't go with this idea. |

I'd like to join in on all this ending discussion, but I only just did the Eldin Volcano Hero Song section...at least I'm getting close! It was kind of a video game cliche, but I enjoyed it well enough, and the lighting and atmosphere added to the feel.
I was reading some miscellaneous threads last night and they reminded me of how much I enjoyed the writing in this game. Especially the part late in the game where Zelda reveals the full story of the game to Link. Her being sincerely sorry for dragging him into this quest (the theme of Link being pulled into danger against his will isn't visited enough), her mentioning that despite being Hylia's reincarnation, "I'm still your Zelda," Link running up desperately to her only to have another wall block him, and Zelda referencing the very beginning of the game by telling Link that he'll have to wake her (which also tied nicely into recurring themes of the series--such as Zelda being encapsulated in a crystal, and/or in a deep sleep--but in a more personal way than in the past).
It was really well done, I thought, and I got the chills in ways similar to the key emotional moments in Pixar films. Sentimental and touching without being mushy or twee. |
