@Mr_Mustache

I watched the whole thing. The. Whole. Thing. Sad that the Rangers won, but a very, very good hockey game.

On an unrelated note, my friend Chris, a die-hard Lakers fan, posted this as his Facebook status after the Mavericks were swept out of the playoffs: "Well done Lakers. Planting Lamar Odom on the Mavericks as a mole was a huge success."

Man, whats going on with sports lately? The O's / Red Sox just had a 17 Inning game yesterday that featured TWO non-pitchers in pitching roles! The Orioles Designated Hitter Chris Davis went 0-for-8 at the plate, but came into the game as a pitcher and struck out two! He allowed no runs, and picked up the Win! The losing pitcher was Darnell McDonald, a Red Sox Outfielder who gave up a 3-run homer, haha! Man, I wish I could've seen this on TV.

-First time since 1925 that BOTH teams put a position player on the mound in the same game. (Ty Cobb / George Sissler)
-First time since 1908 that a player went 0/8 AND got a Win.
-Second longest game in Orioles history
-First time the O's swept the Red Sox at Fenway Park in 18 years (June 10-12, 1994...)
-First time since 2005 the O's are in 1st in the AL East, this far into the season, since 2005

Again, "man, I wish I could've seen this."

@Mr_Mustache

I tell ya. I texted my buddy who is a huge Red Sox fan when the game ended and I just said, "This sweep of the Boston Red Sox is brought to you by the letter O."

I'm glad Baltimore is doing well...they've been my favorite team since I was a kid. I'm tired of it always being the Yankees and the Red Sox, though at least the Red Sox did it semi-right (beefing up their minor league system) versus buying a team (like the Yankees do every year). Tamp is at least a breath of fresh air...the AL East actually looks really good this year.

@ludist210

We should totally revel in this while we can! The O's are 19-9, an MLB best, but they face a TOUGH opponent tonight in the form of the Texas Rangers. They're probably the scariest team, to me, currently in the AL, so we'll see how tonight goes (as well as tomorrow, and Wednesday..).

The Yankees are sickening. Did you see Francour throw out Granderson on a tag-up from 2nd on his way to 3rd? Sniped.

--Oh, dude. Did you see the Bryce Harper stuff? Hamels intentionally beans him, tells people he intentionally beans him, which puts him on base so he can STEAL HOME? Haha, that is HILARIOUS to me. I wonder what action will be taken by The League?

@Mr_Mustache

Yeah, Baltimore doing this well this late (even though it's still early) is nice, and I think it's good for baseball for Baltimore to be relevant. The Rangers are scary good...that series should be very interesting. I'm looking forward to watching it.

Hamels just got suspended for five games. Ouch. I think for starting pitchers, they should be suspended for two starts instead of five games. In five regular season games, they pitch once in that span...pointless really. For relievers, five games is fine.

Hey! Go Caps! Beat the "other" Rangers!

@ludist210

Oh, awesome. The one guy mentioned all of the NFL Bounty stuff, too. I don't know what he was really thinking. Dumb on his part. Is that Five Games, or Five Starts? He should miss at least one start, right?

--Just read your link (and the rest of your post, ugh), and he won't miss anything. Thats..pretty lame? He should at least lose A game. Just talked to my baseball bud at work and he says that it'll screw with his routine though as he won't be able to practice in that time either. Hmm. I dunno, dude, seems pretty light to me.
05/08/12, 01:10
Oh GOD, 14-3.

Checked the boxscore; 7 runs in the 9th!! I had just picked up Pedro Strop today in BOTH of my Fantasy Leagues, so I quickly darted my eyes to the Line. Phew, Berken. He only has two Earned Runs though, so that means that an Error would've been the Final Out? Weird.

Anyway, that was a Matusz started game. We'll see what Arrieta/whoever brings tomorrow. 14-3 though. Scary.

EDIT- Oh, who likes baseball enough / visits this thread enough where they'd like to see their baseball teams listed with what games they have coming up in the next few days? I'd also put your record down. I don't want to include 20 teams though...

You know, I hear that Josh Hamilton kid is pretty good.

@chrisbg99

4 HR.... I guess that's pretty good... It's not what coach Monty Burns would've wanted though.

@TheOldManFromZelda

Well he sure as hell better mind those sideburns.

And my god, that picture brings up so many memories.

@chrisbg99

I can still recite the song. Heck, I remember singing the song on our 8th grade bus trip to Washington D.C. Ahhh, memories.
05/09/12, 14:10
That was a great Simpsons episode. One of the best.

In other news, the Pirates game last night was SO FREAKING GOOD. The pitching was great, but then our closer Hanrahan gave up a two run shot in the top of the 9th, and Washington took the lead! Oh no... But then in the bottom, Alex Presley hit a single and on two BACK TO BACK pitching errors in the dirt he got to third. Two outs, though, with Barahas up, and he's been struggling all year at bat... First pitch... HOME RUN TO WIN THE GAME! Wooooooooooo!

I was yelling and screaming and so happy. It just doesn't get better than that. I know some people think baseball is long and boring, but MAN, it's such a great game! You play until the bitter end, unlike football or hockey where you can try to control the clock and hang on to leads. So good. Only downside is the stupid no-salary-cap, but what can you do...
05/09/12, 18:52
@chrisbg99

*siiiiigh* I just got finished watching it.

-18 total bases, AL Record
-Most recent player to hit 4 Home Runs
-8 RBIs
-And he went 5 for 5

@TheOldManFromZelda

Hey. Hey guys, Lou brought his Super Nintendo to Washington, too! What a Nintendo fan.
05/09/12, 20:32
Woops. Just updated some of the stuff up there.

Why didn't anyone tell me that the Utah Jazz didn't advance and it was actu--

Oh..right..
05/10/12, 02:01
Going up to New York for the weekend. Noticed my Mariners were playing Friday night. Gonna have to go in my Seattle outfit.
05/10/12, 03:44
@missypissy

Eesh. Be careful..
05/10/12, 03:45
Well fortunately it seems the Vikings and Minnesota are getting their acts together and the Vikings will be getting their new stadium. I'm relieved by this despite the Vikings being an absolutely frustrating franchise, they are my absolutely frustrating franchise.
05/10/12, 08:19
GO CAPS!
05/10/12, 20:49
@chrisbg99

Aren't the Vikings more frustrating for fans of them? I dunno, we'll have to see how Kalil does. Do you think Ponder can handle the workload this season?

@Abdooooo

Man, tied at 3-3. Big time Saturday Night game! How will you choose between that and NASCAR?
Better get another TV..
05/11/12, 00:31
@Mr_Mustache

I sure hope so.
