@ludist210

No, I know you said Predators. I was wondering if he was just down in the AHL or WHL or whatever for the majority of the season, or something. I used to know who everyone had as their minor league affiliate, but I'm not sure now.
04/26/12, 23:55
As far as I know, he was a regular player for the last couple of seasons.
04/27/12, 00:03
@ludist210

I'm not a gigantic hockey fan. S'ok.

--Dude! Are you watching the NFL Draft tonight at all?! I'm all pumped up. Mock Drafts for the Bills are always goofy. I've seen them change a few times, and now that it sounds like the Vikes might pass on that Matt Kalil dude, there are talks that the Bills might trade up. Man. That'd be something, going on the buzz that I've heard recently. Nasty all over.
04/27/12, 00:05
I would watch the Draft if
1) It wasn't on opposite Community/Parks and Rec
2) They didn't take five hours between each freaking pick

Look, I understand that things change as people are picked, but the truth is everyone KNOWS who the first pick will be, so the second should be IMMEDIATELY after that. From there you can guess who the third team will likely pick, so the next pick really should be very soon after that. So much time in between is dumb.
04/27/12, 00:22
@-JKR-

They changed the times. It used to be 15 minutes between picks, I believe they're down to 5 minutes now. Its possibly 10. But I think its 5.. I THINK they set a record last year for quickest first round.

Also, I believe that the first and second picks are totally set. What you might not know (besides Team A figuring out who they are picking) is that Team B, C, D, E, R and beyond are calling and making offers. "Hey, we'll give you our 2nd round pick, too, if you swap with us here. You can pick 8th instead of 2nd in Round 1." Team A is like "well, if we do that, we pick up their later pick; who will probably be on the board by that point? Also, we could pass up X here and settled for Y in Round 2." There is a lot of stuff going on behind the scenes. Wheeling and dealing!

EDIT- HOOCHIE MAMA!

@Mr_Mustache

No I get it, it takes time. I just think the second team shouldn't even need/have 15 minutes. It should be "For the first and second picks" and THEN sure, have more time as you go.
04/27/12, 00:55
@-JKR-

I'm not back there so I don't know, but I think its mostly because of the trading picks, and "what do we do now?" when someone snakes your pick. Also, a great Pick can make or break your franchise. The Jets passed up on Dan Marino for some reason. The Dolphins enjoyed him for yeeears to follow.

Was at the Jays/Mariners game today. It was funny, I know Nintendo has something to do with the Mariners but as they were going to the bullpen one reliever had a DK backpack on and another had a Yoshi one lol
04/30/12, 01:06
Both my teams let me down this weekend. Seattle got killed twice by the Blue Jays. Then the Seahawks, in all their infinite wisdom, spent 80% (!!!) of their draft picks on DEFENSE! Yeah, we had a weak defense last year...but we also had a weak offense. Who cares if you can hold teams to 20 points or less if you can't even score 10 on your own until the Fourth Quarter when the other team gave up!!

And that first round pick...what the fuck were they thinking...

Spent the weekend watching the draft with a buddy who is a huge Case Keenum fan. Thought he was going to hang himself when he wasn't drafted. Then thirty seconds after it was over he was picked up by the Texans.
04/30/12, 03:44
@legoman1326

Lol, that's awesome!
04/30/12, 04:49
@legoman1326 Haha that's awesome. Were they rookies? A lot of times the older pitchers will haze the younger ones by making them do silly things.

Flyers are one game up on the Devils, woop woop! Exciting game today.

And the Phillies....well they just have to remember how to hit a damn baseball. Probably not their year, but you never know. Things could still pick up. Not looking good though.
04/30/12, 06:30
Well I'm optimistic about the Vikings future now since they had by all accounts a good draft. Even made some shrewd deals, which if you know anything about the Vikings' draft history is a big deal.

And the Braves are tied for first after taking 2/3 from the Pirates and the Nats getting sweeped by the Dodgers. So yay for me.

Edit: So I guess the Braves/Pirates series is a 4 game series.

@PogueSquadron

They all had their sweaters on so I'm not sure who was who unfortunately (No numbers) it's possible though since another had the starfish guy from spongebob on. Looks like they have 3 rookies in the pen.
04/30/12, 10:21
@PogueSquadron

Oh it's still so early in the season the Phillies will be fine.

@chrisbg99

Yep, 4 game series, here's hoping we split it because yesterday's loss was heartbreaking! Alvarez is FINALLY starting to hit, and then goes out and commits game-losing errors. Sigh...
04/30/12, 18:23
Wow, Junior Seau found dead today via what appears to be a self inflicted gunshot wound to the chest..

RIP

@chrisbg99

Matt Kalil looks nasty. I gotta semi-excited when they said the Bills were going to trade up. Have fun!
05/02/12, 23:16
@Mr_Mustache

I was shocked when I checked CBS Sports right before I left work and saw that...shocked. Junior Seau always seemed like he had it together (aside from what odd sequence of events in 2010). Just...wow.
05/03/12, 06:48
Junior Seau's death was a shock as well. During the '90s he was one of those marquee players you always heard about so it is sad. Wonder if had anything to do with concussion related brain damage leading to depression. That with the 4 current and former Saints suspended makes for a pretty bleak day for the NFL.

And on a lighter note, man am I ever going to miss Chipper Jones. Walk-offed the Phillies today.

@ludist210
@chrisbg99

Speculation is of course suicide, but also that he shot himself in the chest to keep his brain intact for scientific study. That..I dunno, it seems weird to me. Like, "I don't want to live anymore, but here, look at my brain." I mean, that obviously seemed like the only option to him, so perhaps his brain was a little loopy by then. I hate to see someone leave behind such loving people though, left only with questions and "you could've come to me.." type of things. Sad.

Did you guys see that Hockey game the other night that went for like 1:56 ice time? Its, like, almost two full games, haha.
