@MasterSandman IIok ok .... I stand corrected as I misquoted you.. My reasons for cheering for a team are just as crazy as anyone elses reasons for cheering their team on..however for hockey, it's a sympathetic vote - go Vancouver. Win one for your city. @Mr_MustacheTwo things: One: If you click on the table/link for the BPL at the top of the page, it goes right to the standings. Those are the results - bottom 3 will be relegated. Man U is at the top so it's over for the season. Here is the Football League table (the league below the Premier League) The top 3 on this table are now advancing to the BPL for next year. Swansea city, (sitting in 3rd) just clinched it after a playoff bout (3rd-to 6th place on the table go into playoffs to claim the final 3rd spot for promotion - it just so happens that Swansea who was in 3rd place already, got into the league after a recent playoff win) Two: I failed to mention one important thing - the Premier League was created just recently (early 90's) - it was created from splitting up the top league already (for reasons I won't bore you with) What I was thinking of, is that, for an example, they split up the current top leauges like the NHL/MLB etc - the "farm teams" who are way below them won't have to deal with the top tier immediately. The AAA teams of baseball etc would be like...a League 1 or League 2 in Soccer (2 and 3 levels below the Premier league). Let the NHL or MLB get split - no East West...just top and bottom. I guarantee you that competition would increase..and it would be more exciting to watch and pay attention to. I mean, for something like NASCAR...don't you watch the racers near the bottom (or the top set of the racers a 'league below' the top) to see if they get promoted / demoted for the next set of races? What say you to that? Take the Farm teams/AAA out of the equation... S |

@missypissyBedard is good again, too?! Darn it! I dropped him from my Fantasy teams a few weeks ago because he was being a horse. I don't know what that means ("horse"), but he's gone now. Good news for the O's: Brian Matusz is off the DL this week, woo! @SmerdBut "Man U" one the "Regular Season," right? Didn't they lose the playoffs/championship game? I thought I saw that on my local newscast.. Alright..so. First off, this soccer stuff is a lot bigger than the "Big 4" in America in terms of clubs. I COULD see something like this working with NCAA football though; what are we at, like 120 teams? And then you've got I-AA for another 80 or so, and thats not even including Division II and Division III. I guess they kinda already do that then. I believe Western Kentucky (I don't know for sure) moved up from I-AA to I-A in recent years. I only watch the Cup series (the top) in NASCAR; there is the Nationwide Series (which I don't watch) which is like the next level down, and you're almost guaranteed to get two or three guys from there every year one way or another. Ricky Stenhouse Jr. (thats a NASCAR name) filled in for Trevor Bayne (Daytona 500 winner, Nationwide full-timer) this past week and finished 11th. I imagine we'll be seeing him get some more Cup starts in the future. I don't watch the Truck Series either. Some of those guys go to Nationwide though also, and sometimes straight to Cup. What you're describing is basically what I do on my MVP Baseball 2005 game. I have the Orioles (where I play my best guys, and I have an occasional "hot" player up there), and then AAA, AA, and A. I shift guys like crazy between those places once a month. I rank all of my players in each position, by average (the game has that in place, but you have to rank them yourself), forgetting the fact that its probably harder to hit in AAA than AA, and harder in AA than A. If a player is hitting somewhere, he's probably going to hit everywhere, or put up similar numbers. So, if I've got a guy who is hitting .430 in A, and my AA guy is only hitting .230, that AA guy is definitely dropping. I'll let it go for a month, and recount. That AA guy might move up again to AAA (seeing how he handles the AA life), or if he stinks and the new A guy is hitting .440 and the other guy is only hitting .220 in AA (this would never happen, I'm just sayin' for ease of understanding, haha), I'd swap 'em again. I have to manage about 90 guys between those 4 teams. Moral of the story: Smerd should get MVP Baseball 2005. |

...And it's decider time. State of Origin Game III, 5.30 AM Wednesday morning, US Eastern time, Live on Fox sports. Series stands at 1-1. State pride goes on the line again in the final match of Rugby League's biggest spectacle. Will the noble warriors of the sky-blue jersey finally defeat the hated Queenslanders? Or will the filthy cane toads humiliate New South Wales with a record 6th straight series victory? ....Again, just in case anyone but me cares . |
