Must...resist...

@TheBigG753 Hmm, seems like the price is for in-store as well. I may have to check it out today.

Although I get the sense that there is no reason to rush on picking up this game cheap, it instantly dropped in price and continues to drop, it'll probably be $9.99 on Amazon soon enough.

No, Delicatessen is a futuristic dystopian French dark comedy.

Jean-Pierre Jeunet wrote and directed it. You might know him from Amélie, which he also wrote/directed. Delicatessen has that same signature fantastical vibe going for it.

It's freakin' fantastic and I believe it's on Netflix streaming.

Yea, that's when I'll bite.

Really stumped as to what to do with my $50 Gamestop giftcard. Fink suggested I put it towards Xenoblade but I think I'm going to get that as my birthday approaches (June). So stumped! I kind of want to get something that the girlfriend and I can enjoy together. I was thinking Rayman but was trying to stick to Wii, and I'd rather get it on 360.

What kinds of games does she like? Traditional girlish/party games, or "everything?"

Tales of Symphonia (both of 'em) work well as a tandem game. But thats an RPG, and kind of niche, especially for girls.

@New Forms

I looked it up on IMDB. Haha, you and I do NOT watch the same movies.. Hahhaa...

--Have you seen Dirty Work? How about Orgazmo, or BASEketball?

She likes:

Puzzle games (Picross, Layton)
Mario 64 (and I assume games like it. She likes more open world stuff compared to Mario Galaxy).
Mario Party games (she loved Mario Party 1 and 3).

Part of me is thinking of getting Kirby Superstar on VC, or maybe getting Banjo-Kazooie on XBLA and taking turns. We took turns with Fluidity and she liked that game a lot. She tends to like games she can take her time with. Boom Blox was another idea I had, or maybe I could find that Aragorn's Quest game because she LOVES LOTR.

@PogueSquadron

Alright, well, you've got the Yarn game, Return to Dreamland, uhhh, Donkey Kong Country Returns maybe?

Puzzle Games, Puzzle Games... I dunno, I really liked PuzzleQuest (heck, my whole family likes PuzzleQuest), but that be more up my alley than hers. I dug it heartily.

DKCR is hard enough for ME, let alone her, haha.

We might wind up taking turns with Fluidity again. And if I go Kirby, I'd rather just get Super Star on Virtual Console, and we'd just play that together.

It just sucks that I want to play a lot of games with her...but some of these games, I only want to keep for a night. I really don't want to have to abuse Gamestop's return policy again, but I suppose that's always an option. I wish I could just rent games for cheap like I could in 1992 or something. 3-4 bucks, get a game for a few days to a week.

@PogueSquadron

I don't use GameFly, but a lot of people like that? Maybe thats a good idea for you?
I'm sure people here do it, and I know my buddy loves it. I wouldn't do it personally, but we're different people, haha.

What kind of games do YOU want to play with her? Are they different types of games than you THINK she'd like?
You might be surprised, playing a game with your girlfriend; the act of playing WITH her (I think) broadens her horizons. I said it before somewhere, but if you're "holding her hand" in a game, I think she's more apt to play with you. My wife and I are deep, deep in Marvel Ultimate Alliance. What the heck kinda girl plays that? Now we read comics weekly, and she's in love with Spider-Woman (not like she loves me..hey, wait..).

--Oh man, Faith Hill is coming on now, hotttt. If you want to play a game WITH her, pitch it! It might stick!
01/08/12, 03:00
Oh she also loves Wario Ware on GameCube.

Yeah she really just doesn't like these side scrolling games for some reason. She has a hard time with waggle in games, which has become a big barrier for her in Mario Galaxy. Maybe I can find some more GameCube games to play. Very tempted to check out that LOTR game.

@PogueSquadron

Does she like hack'n'slashy stuff? Have you showed her Muramasa (though it sidescrolls, I don't recall crazy waggle)?
01/08/12, 05:33
She had fun playing TMNT Tournament Fighters when we were drunk haha.

We just played some Monkey Ball 2. He had fun with that one!
01/08/12, 06:06
So you're looking for a good 2-player game that isn't a sidescroller?

Most girls I know who've played some games (including my fiance) enjoy Boom Blox. If she likes Wario Ware, consider trying out the GCN one if you can find it. Have you tried Mario Kart Wii? How about taking turns through Shattered Memories, or Little King's Story?
01/08/12, 08:21
*coughs* Maybe we should take the chatter to the community thread so it doesn't clutter up the deals thread? *coughs*

@Zero

Wow, somebody is grumpy!

Let me look for some Midol coupons..

Adjust the "OP" (I hate that title, whatever) to say "Skip Page 15 -- because its AWESOME."
We're just helping our fellow man, brother! We'd do the same for youuu, and we have!
01/08/12, 11:52
My bad! In my defense I was drinking a little haha.

Can't say that I have. I've got a passing familiarity with all of them based on media promotion during their theatrical runs, but the genre is not really my cup of tea (though admittedly I did love Dumb & Dumber back in the day).

I'm more of a indie/foreign/documentary snob.
01/08/12, 18:47
@Mr_Mustache I'm not grumpy, it's just that the purpose of this thread is to post deals, and people (in theory) check it when it gets bumped because they think a new deal has been posted. If it turns into another thread for chatter, people will stop checking it assuming that it's just more chatter, and eventually the whole point of the thread won't exist anymore. This is how they do it on CheapAssGamer too, lots of threads to chat, but the main deals thread is for deals only, otherwise it'd just turn into a huge mess.

We have tons of threads where you can chat! Thousands even!!!

And now I'm bumping the thread without posting deals! Gah! Anyway, let's at least try to move the conversations in here elsewhere?!

I know this isn't the Steam thread, but Civ 5 is $20 for a tad longer on Steam. Deal ends on Monday at 10AM PST.

Civ 5 has gone on sale a few times, but mostly I've only seen it go on sale during the holiday/summer sale. So if you're thinking about getting it, now may be the cheapest on Steam for a while. Beautiful game by the way if you have a recently bought/built PC.
