Have Nintendo's tiny fridges stopped you from spending more money on WiiW, DSiW? [roundtable]

VC, etc.?

Pretty self-explanatory. Has the limited amount of space on the Wii and DSi actually caused you to spend less money on downloadable games?

For me, it TOTALLY has. I pretty much stopped buying stuff on the Wii until the SD solution was put in place. And I haven't bought a DSiWare game in quite some time, even though there are plenty that appeal to me, due to space limitations. I could clean out my fridge, but I kind of don't want to, and it's a pain in the ass. Even that small inconvenience is enough to stop me from buying a new game.

How about you guys? Has Nintendo's cheapness actually cost them money, in this case? Or are we just a fiscally insignificant minority?

(I don't expect you guys to have an answer for the last one, but we could try to figure it out, somehow.)

I've never run out of space on either system. Even before the SD solution. But then, I had no issue deleting games once I finished playing them, so I never really got the whole fridge issue in the first place.

it's all stored alphabetically through 58 pages with 2 games per list with a looong wait every time you changed a page.
That's the worst part, it's excruciatingly slow and awkward.

But to answer the OP I have SD cards for both my Wii and DSi, but I still find myself just deleting stuff to make space and then later down the line if I want to play it again I'll redownload from the store. I still do the old-skool fridge shuffle.

@Deerock69
I've spent at least $20 rebuying DSi games so I would have them on both my DSi and XL, it sucked! (but having Trajectile and Starship Defense with me at all times no matter which system I have on me is worth it).

At first the memory restriction on Wii did prevent me from buying more. The SD solution resolved that for me. I have no problems waiting for my games to load.

@Simbabbad

Yes, yes, and YES. The Wii Shop Channel is my main problem too. It baffles me that the ratings users give to games on the Nintendo Channel are not shown on the games provided within the Store! Furthermore, why aren't the videos from the Nintendo Channel utilized by the store?!? High rez pics, streaming videos, ratings, and a sortable list view are my hopes for the next iteration of the Shop channel.

BTW I'm not even sure the rating is displayed on the Nintendo channel, we can rate but can we see the ratings?

I believe they only use those ratings for the overall suggestion list within the Nintendo channel (bronze, silver, gold, platinum medals). I dont think they show the rating when you go to an individual game. If they did users could be a new special part of the Nintendo seal of quality.

@Simbabbad

Nailed it on the head.

Hell, since I finished X-Scape on the bus on the way to Toronto, I needed a game for the ride back. I ended up getting a tower defense game, Daijoro! Samurai Defenders simply because a) I vaguely remembered it getting a positive review from possibly IGN, b) it was by no means the tower defense game I wanted the most, but its page popped up before Ninjatown or Starship Defense did in the shop.

Pretty ridiculous that that's what I ended up getting simply because I was in a hurry and needed a game, and didn't have a convenient way to judge the content or look for content.

@Simbabbad I meant like "family games" and "top games" and "games for girls" and such. Mind you, some of their choices are pretty silly.

@Pandareus Can't you just search by title? I mean, if you know you want Ninjatown or whatever.

I didn't really know what I was looking for. I was browsing until something popped up. Only later did I think about it, and it dawned on me I would have been possibly happier with Q-Games's Starship Defense.

Yes.

It's definitely lazy on my part, but I would have bought more WiiWare if I didn't have to delete stuff and buy an SD card. Steam has spoiled me.

I'd say the lousy drm system and the pricing are more of a deterrent. SD cards are pretty cheap nowadays.

The Wii shop channel is so 1996. Sega Channel had a better layout for pete's sack.
