Hidden N64 gems! [roundtable]

The N64... didn't have very many games. You'd think that every good one that DID come out would have found an audience. Not true! Following is a small list of passed-over N64 gems:

1) Micro Machines 64 - This is seriously one of the best multiplayer games of all time. Up to 8 players with 4 controllers, and the mechanics of the game make it work fantastically. And it's plenty of fun with two players, as well. MM64 is a goddamned riot. This franchise needs to return in style.

2) Bust-a-Move '99 - Four-player Bust-a-Move madness? Sign me up!! Sure, it's couched in a weird, 'party-mode' style with tiny graphics and a handful of fixed stages, but you know what? Still awesome. The New Tetris was a great multiplayer game, too, but I think that game is pretty well known.

3) Yoshi's Story - If for nothing else than the superb music and graphics! But I like this game. It's ornery and particular, but I like it.

I could keep going (not for very long, though), but let's hear what you guys have to say. Can you think of any forgotten N64 classics?

1.) So am I, despite holding on to my N64 cartridge like grim death.

2.) Do you have a working N64 console? Over here Fighter's Destiny is one of the very most common games to find second hand, in my experience. Maybe you could find a copy for cheap just like I did?

Sadly, I no longer own an N64. I sold mine back in 2001 in order to buy a PS2 and a GBA. A decision I don't regret often, but when I do, it really hurts!

Aw man, that almost makes me hurt! I'm so nostalgic about my games that it's probably unhealthy in a handful of different ways.

I guess finding an N64 shouldn't be too hard or expensive if you ever feel like getting another one, though.

I leapt on Fighters Destiny back in '98. I was so hoping it would be our answer to Tekken but in the end it was just ok. I don't remember that cheesy box art though... yikes!

@Super_Conzo
I expected it to be like Tekken too, so when it turned out to be closer to Virtua Fighter I didn't really feel it. Not because I don't like Virtua Fighter, but because of my expectations. Kind of like eating jelly blindfolded, expecting it to be crisps or something.

The box art was horrible! I remember an ad in one of the British N64 mags was really weird too; It was a photo of some girl with some text saying "Deadlier than the male". Not even sure if there was a screenshot attached to it. Never understood what that was supposed to mean in the context of Fighter's Destiny.

It's been a long time since I've shopped N64, but systems and games used to be dirt cheap. Have people started to care about the system?

@Hero_Of_Hyrule Dr. Mario 64 is still the best version of that game, I feel. It's the only one with a four-player vs mode, I have no idea why that mode has never returned. The four-player mode in the WiiWare game is a special co-op affair that has everyone use the Wiimote pointer to grab and place blocks all on the same wide playing field, and though the mode has its moments, it isn't as fun as the insanity of four-player vs, which was only two-players in the WiiWare game.

Truly one of the best games of all time. Just listen to that fuckin' range of godly music!!

But the real answer to this thread is ALL OF THEM. N64 was an amazing system.

10:35 of this video. How do I include the exact time I wanna share? I even did it recently but have no idea how I did it.

No N64 thread complete without the grandaddy of console FPS

When I first entered the cave and the leapers came leaping out of the dark shadows to this music it was an INCREDIBLE feeling. One of the best moments in gaming I can remember.
