I'm really feeling like I backed the wrong horse this gen, even though at the time, the decision made sense.
Well, fortunately for you unlike real horses videogame consoles can be bought relatively cheap. Isn't the 360 like 250 or so these days? Wait until closer to the Wii 2 launch and I bet it drops to 200 or below.
I've got a mental block against owning all of the systems out there... feels like overkill. I've got the money, that's not the problem. It's just that with my current backlog and 3 systems plugged in the TV already, and 3 portables... man, I can't help but feel that's sad. Especially since I'm rocking the same furniture I've had since I finished school.
I'm currently passing on a deal, an Arcade 360 at $125 (the hard drive I'll need to add to that is more expensive, lol). So yeah, it's not the price so much as the waste of space and the self-indulgence.

Yeah. I hear you on that. It's why I don't have a PS3 even though there are more than enough games on the system that I'm interested in to justify the purchase cost.
Isn't it weird that the Arcade SKU is the one that is most gimped towards Live Arcade?
Upon discovering bangai-o hd a couple days, I had that thought too.
Damn it, somebody lend me their 360. I'm in socal. The only other time I'll ask is when/if ikaruga 2 comes out. 0=) Any live games I happen to get will be yours after lending, that will be my offer..
I'm always proposing a 'partner swap' with Zero, but he never bites. He'd probably make out a lot better in that scenario, too, since I play games, like, once a week.
"Only"? Trust me, that is pretty good for these kind of things. Usually they are dead before they start.
@Anand The thing is, I don't play enough games nowadays period to want the pressure of having any kind of deadline on a console swap, if even a really, really long one. I like starting something and knowing I can take one week to multiple years to finish it.
Although that Bangai-O game is getting good reviews. Fuck. It better make it to PS3 / Wii2 / whatever eventually.
I have both a 360 and a PS3, but I use my 360 far more often. Part of that is because of all the cool downloadable games. I've been playing a lot of Duke Nukem 3D lately, and I also really like Game Room a lot.
If you pay attention to my posts (...why?), you've probably seen me downplay what services like XBLA and PSN offer as far as original, scaled down content goes, decrying the fact that it's all tower defense and twin-stick shooters.
Well I still believe that, but here's a twin-stick shooter that really appeals to me for some reason.
It doesn't seem to be doing anything that the other twin-stick shooters aren't doing already, I guess. But I guess if I had to explain why it looks good to me, I'd have to point at the mechs, the explosions, the colors, and the fact that it looks like it takes place in levels (instead of arenas).
I'm pretty close to pulling the trigger on this one, but would I have any PSN friends to play with? Eh?
@Guillaume But the zombie game we both have now also takes place in real levels... have you tried it? Do you like it? I found it to be merely "ok" but I haven't played too much.
You're totally right. Owning all systems is just overkill. I've got all three current-gen systems, and the three current handhelds. Not to mention two thirds of last generation's consoles still hooked up, as well as my Dreamcast. And of course my GBA SP+ is sitting here, ready to go at a moment's notice. Even my Neo Geo Pocket Color isn't too far away.
TOO MANY GAMES. NOT ENOUGH TIME.
I'm making a point not to get as many machines during this upcoming generation. In fact, I may go 3DS-only.
I'm thinking too of cutting back. Certainly I don't need the Sony handheld this time around, I honestly didn't get much out of having (access to) the PSP, I've played about 10 games on it and I can't think of a single one that I feel like I needed to play. Even Valkyria Chronicles II is turning out a bit disappointing since THEY REUSE THE SAME 2 DAMN MAPS FOR LIKE THE FIRST 15 MISSIONS. As for consoles, it'd probably be tough to be Wii U only, but I don't really play my PS3 that much. I suppose it depends on whether Nintendo actually gets real 3rd party support this time around or not.
