Looks a lot better visually than even just the E3 build. Looks like they also got rid of the upward dripping effect they had on Mickey at E3. Or maybe that only happens in certain parts of the game. |

I think having not really played PC games the name "Warren Spector" didn't really mean much to me personally, even though I knew he made all these highly praised games. It's looking pretty sweet though, I'd be kind of surprised if it didn't turn out to be one of the best 3rd party games on the console (not that that would be very tough...)
If Nintendo would have set a standard on voice acting on their console surely other developers would have followed. So I blame Nintendo for the fact that this game doesn't meet modern standards and therefore looks antiquated next to everything else coming out. Maybe it will at least have voice acting in the cutscenes, which will somehow make it a much, much better game.
(Ok just kidding. Hmm, let's NOT get into that here, we already have one thread for that...) |

No voice acting? I can understand for the black&white stages, but for everything else? Mickey's a fucking fully voiced cartoon character, what is this cockshitpoopie? |

The game looks amazing. It will probably be one of the best games on the Wii when it's all said and done behind only Nintendo's best offerings. That said I agree with Xbob. Not having VA for a character who's voice is universally known worldwide, ie the whole argument that it "takes you out of the game" or whatever, is an odd choice. Everyone knows what Disney characters sound like, if any game ever should at least have our heroes word be spoken, it's one based on such beloved characters who have been speaking to us for the better part of a century.
That said I have supreme confidence in Spector. The guy is incredible and makes games I always fall in love with. I'm sure this will be no different. |

Pardon my ignorance but what about the voice they used for Mickey in Kingdom Hearts? Unless if that one just died recently That just seems odd though... seems like a game that should have SOME voice acting at least.
I wonder if we'll get this ported over to the PS3 with the Move now... |

@Oldmanwinter On the flipside though, they are pulling in a billion characters from like 100 years of Disney history. It'd be impossible to get all of the original voice actors involved, and if they started hiring random voice actors to try to match the originals, that'd be messy.
Gah, why am I still talking about voice?! |

Gah, why am I still talking about voice?! Very true. I don't even know what characters are in this. It seems like Mickey, Donald Duck and the rest of the major characters would be pretty easy to fabricate accurately though. I mean hell, the guys in the suits at Disney World do a bang up job and they are pulling minimum wage, lol. |

ANYWAY... I'm starting to want this game more and more. It just may live up to the concept art. |

@Secret_Tunnel
Ooooh, I wasn't aware of that at all... I just figured you were talking about the original Mickey Mouse voice actor. Unless if the original is also the same as the one in Kingdom Hearts. I really don't check these things obviously |

Umm... didn't they make a Mickey/Goofy/Donald/etc voice synthesizer for their suits at Disney Land to make things that much easier? I hear it works pretty good. :p |

Yeah but going beyond the main ones there are supposedly a crap-ton of obscure Disney characters in here. Now you could take the view of they are obscure, so who cares how accurate their voices are to the originals? But that's an iffy approach.
I'd be willing to bet there is SOME Mickey in there, if only to the extent that Mario has a voice in his games. |

What I meant by that is actually a sort of question, is their tech difficult because of the actual hardware part, or the part where they need to get the voice accurate? Cause if it's just the hardware, sounds like they could make you sound like anyone... |

Hey, my part about voice acting was a joke BECAUSE THE MAD DOCTOR NEVER SAID ANYTHING in the old cartoon, like the huge majority of those old characters. I didn't expect people to mostly answer about that.
I'm pretty impressed with the gun. It's difficult to aim in first person and make the character fire in third person (except if it's from a RE4/Dead Space angle). Nintendo couldn't pull it off with Yoshi in Mario Galaxy 2 and had the arrow cop-out. |

Whoa, WHAT? Yoshi had a gun in Super Mario Galaxy 2?!? (I'm assuming it's something "harmless" like a peanut or coconut gun like DK had in Donkey Kong 64... right? Did he have... an Egg Gun...??? Seems I need to collect more Stars in that game. I didn't even know there was such an item!) |

Damn, the game looks great in those videos. Though I have to admit I'm not the biggest Disneyhead out there: never heard of Plutopia until now. I don't think I've ever ever seen Fantasia. Or Bambi. Or Dumbo. Or Sleeping Beauty. Or Alice in Wonderland...
Yeah... me not being the biggest Disney connoisseur was an understatement.
Disney has released those tin cases of classic shorts a few years ago, I think they're collector items now. I kind of wish I had snagged more of them, but the only one I got was Disney at the Front Lines. It's utterly fascinating to see Disney doing WWII propaganda. If you thought Song of the South was racist, you haven't seen how the Japanese are treated in Commando Duck. |

@Pandareus
Well, to be fair, you could argue they depict the American army as being incompetent cowards who just get lucky. In times of war, they could have been rougher against the Japanese, and in those times, cartoons just made fun of everything. Elmer Fudd isn't very flattering for white men either.
Also, they got requested by the army, it wasn't really their choice.
Anyway, if you have to watch just one Disney classic, watch Fantasia. It's what they did best IMO. It's just an amazing piece of Art. |

The way the documentary on the DVD talks about it, when the army approached Disney to help with propaganda, Walt Disney was totally into it. He was under no obligation whatsoever. |

Nintendo couldn't pull it off with Yoshi in Mario Galaxy 2 and had the arrow cop-out. I was comparing Mickey's paint gun with Yoshi spitting things out. Same mechanic theoretically, but in Galaxy 2 it's beyond clunky, and in Epic Mickey it work apparently flawlessly. |
