If it was here? Maybe...

No, but I was talking about those real-life meet-ups. Like flash mobs? I'm pretty sure they exist and you can sign up for them somewhere, but I haven't done too much research.

When the game was popular, I was going to meet some random Chicagoan for Meteos and pizza (during lunch), but it never happened.

Hey I'd go, if it was in Chicago.

In fact, I'm moving into my aunt's soon and she basically lives alone and isn't even around half the time so I'm thinking to kill the utter boredom I'm going to try to start having gamer parties more often. Like a lot more often. My brother and cousins and I used to have unofficial gaming get-togethers like every weekend, I know that is tough for adults to pull off but I kind of miss that feeling of something happening every weekend UNLESS something else came up.

EDIT: Oops, didn't realize the picture would pop up that huge in the thread.

I've had a mage in my team since the beginning but I'm beginning to rethink the decision. He's fucking useless. Very few enemies are more susceptible to magic attacks than physical attacks. Coupled with the poor gear he can equip, he's more a liability than anything. I guess the Evac spell is useful. I guess.

So I've got a Warrior, a Gladiator and a Priest, and I'm not sure what to turn him into. Thief maybe, to help with the Alchenomicon?

Sounds like the beginning of a good joke haha.

Anyway, man I need to open this game and start playing it.

A warrior, a gladiator an a priest walk into a bar. The warrior orders a pint of milk. The priest gives him a weird look and then a look of understanding dawns on his face. "Been retired for a while, eh? Things have changed since the NES days" he says while flashing his crucifix. The gladiator guffaws, slaps him in the back and says "Yeah, well you still got a disproportionally huge head".

Did very well at the Simon Project Style event at Garden City, NY.

I have over 40 canvases now and got some high level maps. Also get the Zoma map from the Gamestop event and I believe the Estark Map is from the Best Buy Event.

@Pandareus

Ha! I get it.

Well, I'm finally going to tackle the "Marionette" quest. I've been grinding for a while (I don't know why, I just wanted to) and now all my characters are in their early-to-mid level 30s. I think that's fairly high for how far along I am in the adventure. Alright, time to beat down some monsters and save the day!

I am having a falling out with this game because the extra quests come out slow and there were no DQ events in my area. I got really high in the treasure dungeons (lvl 75 gold) but the game has not thrown my a bone in over 2 weeks. I am getting burned out from just doing random dungeons. I wish nintendo would allow you to download those special maps through he Nintendo Channel so that I can rekindle my interest.

I purchased this game right before going on vacation last week and played it a few times. I'm actually having a good time with it but it seems I'm missing out on a bunch of online features. I'll have to try it out with some of you.

edit: HOLY!... Looking at that full world map makes me think I've only scratched the surface with this game! Awesome!

@Scrawnton
How many hours have you played? It seems like any game, no matter how large, will eventually run out of new content. I mean I'm 40 hrs. in and I don't think I've even completed half of all there is to do.

@Scrawnton

I think it's normal to have a "falling out" with the game if you play it as intensely as you have. I'm thinking it's meant to be more of a "play a little every day" affair, a theory the daily update of the DQVC tends to support. That's how I choose to play it, anyway. I turn it on and focus on getting alchemy ingredients, or do a grotto, then stop.

80+ hours now, and I'm on the verge of beating the last boss's second form, lol.

Question about classes. I am now at the point where I can change classes, but I only have 6 options (including the one I already am.) I have noticed other classes seem to be opened through sidequests and such so like... is there really any point in changing now and leveling up one of the original 6 if I'm just going to want to find a cooler class to change to down the line anyway?!
09/05/10, 04:09
Sure: you keep the skill points you earn. You can save them up and use them for another class, but even if you don't, the skills, passive bonuses or weapon skills you earn apply no matter what your cuurent class is.
09/05/10, 05:49
The strategy behind changing classes can get complicated because not every class can wield every weapon or ability, you might want to have a clear upgrade path planned and spend/save your skill points accordingly.
09/05/10, 06:08
Yeah that is the thing I don't even know what exists yet. And every time you change it seems you need to spend time leveling that character up again, so it kind of seems not worth changing until you know what you want.

Though I did change into a Thief, just because. I can't help it, thieves always suck and I always pick them anyway. But I want to eventually change into something cooler. Like the Jedi or whatever it is called in this game, the one that uses the "fource".

@Zero
You can check out this FAQ for info on each class, though I'm not sure if it's 100% accurate.

Well, I finally beat the main story of the game after seventy-something hours in. The only thing is that I missed the chance to unlock the sage vocation. Does anybody know where I can find anymore great trolls?
09/07/10, 04:19
@Tranquilo
I finished tonight too, 80 hrs. in! Still have a lot of grottos to beat and items to alchemize, I'm hoping now that I've beat the game new quests will be unlocked, and that seems to be the case because a lot of the NPCs have new things to say now.

Hey I have a question about DLC quests, how do they work? Once you connect to the NWFC and "download" them do you still have to wander around the overworld until you speak to the right NPC in order to activate the quest? How will you know where the new quests gets initiated? Also, can you only download one a week and then if you miss it it's gone forever or if you wait like 6 months can you download 20 at a time and do them all?
