Official game database thread for new games in the database, reviews, etc. [community]

Hey guys, I decided to make a thread to call attention to one of our major features here, the Game Database. I'll probably bump it from time to time to let everyone know about new hot games that have been added that you can add to your collections or rate.

First, let me explain a few things about rating games and adding them to your collection. Everyone (yes, even you -1ers!) can rate games and add them to your collection. This is a pretty simple process. Go up to the menu above and select GAMES -> Game Database, or just CLICK HERE. You will see a list of titles you can browse, and you can also search for specific titles with the search feature at the top, and even add games you can't find with the little bar at the top right above the search functionality that says "Submit a Game (keywords)". To add a game to your collection you check the box under "Owned" next to the game, and to rate it you select a number under "You" (you can add without rating and vice versa, if you want to). You can do one game or a whole page at a time, and when you are ready to submit your collection and ratings updates, click the "CLICK TO UPDATE THIS PAGE OF YOUR COLLECTION AND RATINGS" bar that can be found at either the top or bottom. Simple!

You can also rate games and add them to your collection from the individual game pages that you access when you click on any game from the main game page. For instance, if you were on the Mario Party 6 page there is a box in the top right where you can add it to your collection or rate it and click the "PUSH" button to update.

Now, let me explain something about writing game reviews. Again, everyone (yes, even you -1ers!) can write reviews for the site. This is a pretty simple process. Like before, go up to the menu above and select GAMES -> Game Database (or just CLICK HERE. Select the game you want to review (you can use the search at the top to find games quickly) and click on it. Near the top right of the page for that individual game you will see "Add a review" with a little plus next to it. Click the plus, write your review, choose a score (or not, if you don't like scoring reviews) and submit. Easy as pie!

And don't worry about not being formal enough, or sticking to a specific review format, or whatever. As long as you can write a paragraph or two and put your thoughts into a semi-coherent form, everything is good. Also, reviews of older games are totally acceptable, for instance I recently posted a WarioWare: Twisted! review of mine that I wrote like 6 years ago or whatever.

Alright, that's all I have for now. Use the features guys!

What's Donkey Kong Classics?

I was going to buy Ogre Battle 64 for $10 at a video store that was clearing out their inventory. But then I didn't. (I should've, though, because I'm pretty sure that nobody had ever rented it.)

Also you could have probably flipped it for a lot more. That game sells for a good price. I traded my copy in for Super Metroid.

Yeah, I didn't really know about flipping at the time. And now I'm too lazy.

Amazon Marketplace is a lot easier (and more profitable) than eBay, though.

Super Metroid should never be associated with regret.

OK, am I doing something wrong?

I choose a game, in this case Shadow Man for N64. On its page, I see things like

-Added by Het_Nkik on 9-2-10
-Description: Creepy, disturbing game/
-Top and bottom scores
-Some owners

At the bottom is an editable field for the description. I went in there to add some more info, I hit PUSH, and I got an error message? How come?
Is this field separate from the "Add a review" field?

Ooh. I always assumed I was the only one who could see that because I CAN edit everyone's stuff.

Are level -2 supposed to have the edit box?!
06/04/10, 20:32
I added Picross DS and Devil's Crush.

Art Style Intersect is first no more

Donkey Kong Classics is awesome. Donkey Kong / Donkey Kong Jr.!

EDIT- ...alright, I'm skipping Phantasy Star Online I & II and Phantasy Star II (VC) right now. If someone would like to add them, please do.

@Mr_Mustache

You're doing yeoman's work, Mustache. You've convinced me to add my first game.

Dude, haha, glad I could inspire someone.

I've added soooo many games...and these are just the ones I've rated.
I'm almost about done transferring my list though. Looks like I'll have to complete some more games!

--What did you add?

MOST RECENT ADDS FOR ME:
WWF Warzone
NFL Quarterback Club '98
Duck Tales
Pipe Dream
Crystal Mines
NFL Quarterback Club '96
Quest 64
WCW Mayhem
Abadox
Alien vs. Predator
WCW Backstage Assault

@Mr_Mustache

I added Little League Baseball: Championship Series, an unappreciated NES gem from the makers of Baseball Stars!, and the original Phantasy Star for VC (even though I played it on GBA myself).

Man, Quest 64, I remember the hype for that game. Could you come up with a more boring name for an RPG?
06/05/10, 01:30
@Jargon

Haha, I don't know man. And I saw that you added Phantasy Star. I think I have Little League Baseball.. Someday...

--I added some more:
The Little Mermaid
Dungeon Explorer
WCW Nitro
Double Dungeons
WWF Super Wrestlemania
Adventures of Tom Sawyer

The Legend of Zelda (Collector's Edition)
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time / Master Quest (bonus disc)
06/05/10, 02:08
I added Duck Tales to my collection. I used to own Quest 64 and got... somewhat far in it, but I lost my copy It wasn't really that great a game though, so I haven't replaced it yet.

I suck at thinking up descriptions That and my brain has a selective memory on what games are and aren't online since I don't play online at all.

I offer you my services..for a fee. Haha, no really! If you get stuck, just use a simple template:

Who made the game? What kind of game is it?
Who is involved? What do you do?
Bad guy? End result?

Really, thats probably a great entry. I like to write a little more (thats just me; I usually go 3-4 full sentences), but Jargon did a really nice, simple entry for Phantasy Star on the VC. Check it out!

@X-pert74

No you didn't! I went to see what you rated it and I'm still the only one. Don't hurt me for my score.
I might have to replay that one in the same sitting as Rescue Rangers and Little Mermaid..

I've extinguished my list of rated games on IGN. I have 300 listed over there (so far..), so it looks like I'll have to get Rating some other games. I'll probably get a few up this weekend..

EDIT- ..not that anyone plays/owns my games, haha..

Owned != Rated

I've barely played Duck Tales, and I never really got into it, so I didn't feel like giving it a rating.
06/05/10, 23:40
That's not true! I totally have a wrestling game around here somewhere...
06/05/10, 23:41
@X-pert74

I gotta replay it. When I gave it a 7.2 it felt right, but now thinking about it it seems so low. Thats a score I give to games that I don't really like..like Mega Man 7. That game is awful. I REALLY don't think its better than Duck Tales. Zelda II needs a fair shake, too (7.2..).
06/05/10, 23:42
Come on guys, rate some more games!

Bit.Trip Runner still has only 2 ratings! I know a lot of you guys have played it!
