OT! Your three best character traits and three worst! [community]

I always enjoy asking people this, because it tells you quite a bit about them. Their priorities, their ability to self-analyze, their level of delusion...

I'll start, I guess (and potentially end, as well).

GOOD
I would say intelligence, humor, and kindness.

Bad
Sometimes, I think I'm TOO smart, funny, and nice.

No, let's see... Temper, Laziness, and Lack of Drive/Risk-Aversion/Fear of Failure/Pessimism.

How about you guys? C'mon, it's fun!

What is this an interview? There's a reason I've never gotten hired without a friend getting the job for me (or pretending to be someone else, in the case of my current job): inability to answer questions like this.

I hate being forced to answer questions like this, but I think it's fun to do it among friends/family.

It's also fun to take personality/behavior tests on the internet or in psych class, because people rarely look inwardly unless they really have to.

I think it's hard to really analyze what my "best" and "worst" traits are. I may be smarter than the average bear, but how much has that improved my life in practical terms? The fact that I got a scholarship to college is nice, but maybe if I hadn't been labeled as a "bright mind" so early in my life, I would have gone to professional school instead of college and could be a skilled electrician right now. You know, someone useful when the revolution/nuclear apocalypse comes.

But that's part of the question. That's why it's intentionally vague. The things you list as 'best' and 'worst' are also traits that you personally assign positive or negative value to.

I'm not sure if everyone has the ability to analyze themselves, though. Some people certainly seem unaware of their weaknesses, but they have to be at least sub-consciously aware, right? Maybe not.

I also think ambition and drive are a much bigger factor in 'success' than intelligence, but that's another discussion.

It's very possible that no one will answer this question. Perhaps I'm the only person who finds this kind of stuff fascinating (and feels okay about sharing it), but it really helps you get to know people beyond, you know, silly quips and opinions on video games.

(I also like asking people how they would identify or describe themselves. Some people describe themselves in terms of their job, others nationality, religion, family status, etc.)

If I tell you my weaknesses, you might be able to best me in turn based combat. At the very least, you should waste a turn casting Libra or some equivalent spell.

I'm honestly not sure what I could state as "good" qualities for me. I only know bad ones, lol! I mean, I'm kinda carefree and laid-back, but that can be seen as bad by a lot of people. I'm also incredibly lazy. And I procrastinate like none other.

I dunno. This is hard. I'm going to have to think about this and come back later.

Good: Observant, empathic, sensible

Bad: Distrustful, cynical, rude

Both: laid-back, I speak my mind (is there an adjective for that?), I have a very addictive personality

Outspoken?

@Jargon
I don't get it. Must be an RPG thing.

@GameDadGrant
I'm sure you're not that bad, Grant. You were always one of the nicer people on IGN (not that that's saying much).

@anandxxx

Well, ask Goombario then. He knows.
06/03/10, 08:18
@Jargon I was thinking interview too, but but only because he gave the interview response to bad traits. You know, like when they ask you about your negative traits and you go "sometimes I get so into my work I work TOO hard..."

But man.

Bad:
Always anxious
Always exhausted
Easily frustrated

Good:
Uh...
Intelligent, compassionate, erm... creative?
06/03/10, 08:20
Good:

Nice guy, smart, pretty easy going

Bad:

Short temper, lazy, very introverted
06/03/10, 09:10
There's no point of doing good. Everyone's just going to say that they're a genius, incredibly hilarious, and have a wholesome, well-balanced moral compass. All of which are clearly lies. As so...

Good

Philosophical ascetic master
formulated the trifecta of hilarious irony, insanity, and creativity into a practically applicable form
Willing to make nigh-ridiculous sacrifices for the greater good

Bad

too lazy and incompetent to actually accomplish anything
Incapable of speaking in a way that people can understand
will randomly stop caring in the middle of any undertaking, and stop entirely, regardless of progress
06/03/10, 10:15
Lessee.....

Good:
I don't mind settling for less if it's not important. There's some word for it... starts with a "C" I think, but I can't remember.
Usually drop whatever I'm doing to help a fellow coworker out, which seems to make me likable as a coworker (dunno about as a person).
I have good attention to detail.

Bad:
I'm easily provoked.
Terrible memory at times (I still don't know what the "C" word is).
I have good attention to detail (got provoked recently, and the guy though he was clever by telling me my first and last name, and the state in which I lived, and made a comment on my picture [yet another fat joke], no doubt through my facebook page in some silly attempt to intimidate me. I took it a step further and, w/o any social networking info, found his full name, city and state, place of employment, and car make and model. Never did anything with it, as he wisely let it drop and went about his business. ..... not that I'd actually do anything on the offensive, though I do prefer to know more about someone who's potentially threatening than they do me).
