I got the game yesterday, i have been playing it a lot (i love vacations ) I'm 80 stars in and i love it a 10/10 IMO so far.
My favorite power-up is the cloud suit i love the things you can do with it, yoshi is pretty cool too. I think the game is harder i mean i got a game over that never happen in the first one. I don't have a favorite galaxy but the throwback make wow me and put a smile in my face.
Also i got a lot of troubles with the sand thing enemy comet.
Well I've hit quite a roadblock in my green star hunt.
In the Flipsville Galaxy the last green star requires me to fall upwards to catch the star, only the area does not let me change the camera, and I have died every attempt, just missing the darn thing. Nearly lost all my lives last night before I called it quits. It's crazy.
^^^^ Just gotta fall at the right angle. Annoying.
That's one of my complaints in this game: it rarely lets you change the camera angle, even when it should allow for it. I think the first game was much better designed around an auto-cam, because I don't remember struggling with it so much.
Especially first person view cam...why isn't that always allowed?
Argh what. You guys know a prime star bit location?
I used the second star of Melty Monster Galaxy. Get all the star bits while you're rolling towards the end and then die before you get to the star. You'll get about 100 each time.

Yeah, I was about to post this. Actually, I replayed some of SMG1 (about 50 stars) a week before SMG2, and the camera is just as restrictive in that game. The post-120 quest pretty much requires maximum camera manipulation, and it really brings out how little you can mess with it. I have no idea why Nintendo doesn't let us go into first-person mode all the time either...kinda drives me crazy when I want to take in the sights.
That said, the camera during normal gameplay is quite smart, but there are a few too many times where it locks into place with no hope of changing it (and that vague D-pad icon tells me nothin').
@Secret_Tunnel@DrFinkelstein That was going to be my suggestion as well. I died a few times doing that star the first time, and I think by the time I finished it I had 999 star bits, and it won't let you collect any more :p
I collected around 600 star bits by the time I finished the level and got the star. The sad thing is, I was trying to beat the level and not farm the bits.
@Secret_Tunnel I think I remember that from Galaxy 1 now that you mention it. I think I did it by accident a few times in Galaxy 2, but I had forgotten how to do it so I couldn't figure out what happened :p
Just now I realized that by holding Z then spinning, you'll do a leg sweeping move. Pretty awesome. It's probably in that dvd video but I just accidentally did it.
