I'm at 38 stars and still haven't hit the third world boss. I was doing fine just collecting all the open stars per galaxy...and then the comets started coming. And they are some tough SOBs even at this early stage. One in particular was brutal from a lives standpoint.
Yeah, it seems like the normal objectives are about on the same level as the first game, maybe a little tougher... but the comets are where the challenge is at.
Game is so incredible. I don't want to rush through it because I know it might be awhile before I play something this good again, but I just can't control myself.
I'm about 55 stars in, and I have to say... I think I may have spoiled a lot my watching so many videos before the game came out. I never got that feeling with the first Galaxy, but Nintendo just released way too many clips this time around. I will have to work on my self-restraint with future releases! Zelda - watch the official trailers and a clip or two. No more...
Whew, played a lot of the game last night... I'm up to 22 or 23 Stars now. I'm about to unlock World 3.
I'm lovin' this game so far. The Cosmic Cove Galaxy was really, really awesome. I loved the colors, the music, the... atmosphere... it was just really well done. (WTF? I'm talking about the atmosphere... in a MARIO game?!? .... the hell....?)
The difficulty just went up quite a bit at World 5 for me. Felt a lot more challenging for me, died alot more than before.
It's good to hear the difficulty ramps up later on. So far the game has been... relatively easy. I mean, I know I'm only in World 2 and things shouldn't be *too* hard yet, but I suppose I expected more of a challenge. Of course, I'm so busy just having fun I don't worry too much about it.
This game is truly addictive and a joy to play! The pacing is terrific--nearly every star mission is great, and the ones that aren't are still fun (if short). As far as sheer platforming goes, it pushes the genre to a new standard of quality. I really only have a couple complaints at this point. The first is that the music started off AMAZING for the first world or so, but then kinda petered out a bit in the middle of the game. The orchestration seemed to fall by the wayside a bit, but it's starting to pick back up again so I'm optimistic. Still buying the OST no matter what, although I'd hesitate to call the soundtrack better than SMG1's just yet.
The other complaint I have is that it's not quite as challenging as I'd hoped yet. Several stars are, but for the most part, a star will introduce a great concept and not quite push it to its fullest. Of course, I'm just digging into some of the later stars, so this is likely to change too.
Besides that (and some slightly wonky swimming controls), I'm loving every second of this nonsense.
Heh, I just noticed on the title screen that if you press A, the logo glows blue and if you press B, it glows yellow... pointless but neat It would still be nice if they added a Mario face stretching feature like in Mario 64!
