Currently at 54 stars in World 5.
This game is truly addictive and a joy to play! The pacing is terrific--nearly every star mission is great, and the ones that aren't are still fun (if short). As far as sheer platforming goes, it pushes the genre to a new standard of quality. I really only have a couple complaints at this point. The first is that the music started off AMAZING for the first world or so, but then kinda petered out a bit in the middle of the game. The orchestration seemed to fall by the wayside a bit, but it's starting to pick back up again so I'm optimistic. Still buying the OST no matter what, although I'd hesitate to call the soundtrack better than SMG1's just yet.
The other complaint I have is that it's not quite as challenging as I'd hoped yet. Several stars are, but for the most part, a star will introduce a great concept and not quite push it to its fullest. Of course, I'm just digging into some of the later stars, so this is likely to change too.
Besides that (and some slightly wonky swimming controls), I'm loving every second of this nonsense. |
