Hey guys, I hope you're enjoying the newest Mario title: "Super Mario Galaxy Wahooooo" (according to Charles Martinet on the load-up screen at least).

So how many stars do you have? Which galaxies have you most enjoyed? Favorite power-up? Be sure to mark spoilers though!

Finsished World 2. Two things that made me super happy inside.

1. The Super Mario World music used in the galaxy with the peppers that make Yoshi go fast.
2. The Super Mario 64 Bowser level music. Even better than in Galaxy 1.

Both music and nostalgia related, and on top of that, level design is still amazing.

Did anybody happen to get to the top of that platform on the speedy pepper level only to realize that it was all for a fucking compliment and unnecessary tip from an old penguin? Shit took me like 20 minutes. I yelled at the tv, and then I laughed...

Better than in Galaxy 1 but still nowhere near as good as the original Super Mario 64 one imo.

I just finished world 2 with about...18 stars and I gotta say the game is getting a lot better. I still think the first will end up being better considering how groundbreaking it was for the time and it just signified the true comeback of Nintendo and Mario for me. Nothing could beat that. So far I think the music is a lot better in Galaxy 1 but the music in 2 is getting better.

@Hinph

Yes..and I laughed too!

Ooh, one more question before I play tonight: I got a "Galaxy completed" for the next-to-last stage in world 1 (Upside-down something), not in the others (even though I got all the stars shown on the map). Should I go back and explore those stages until I "complete" the galaxies, or is it impossible for me to complete them right now until the prankster comets show up?

@Pandareus

It's impossible at the moment. If there's a star you can collect at the present time, the game will let you know.

I am 12 Stars in so far, and I just opened up World 2.

World 2's Map Screen is pretty cool-looking.

120 stars.

I actually hadn't spoiled myself the reward. It's very nice, better than freakin Luigi, but let's just say I won't be doing it anytime soon. Maybe in a couple months when there's nothing to play.

I will however continue to replay levels because they're so much fun.

It was pretty funny doing all that work to be praised by a Penguin. I expected a secret star or something.

If I understand what the Penguin said correctly, he gives you a tip that you should collect coins for the hungry luma later in the stage.

30 stars here!

I am stuck between an amazing Mario, Starcraft 2 and finishing MH3

WOW if zelda comes out this year... Best year of gaming... EVER

10/10 from me for sure. The talent and detail put into this game just baffles the mind...

I just got to World 2 and am now 11 stars in. Awesome game so far, I like how new stuff keeps happening.

At 68 stars I finally reached the Space Storm galaxy.

Such an awesome song for that stage

I'm a wee bit disappointed. I thought when everyone said Luigi was playable I thought you had the option to play the whole damn game with him, not select levels. False advertising on all the websites' part though.

"LUIGI IS FULLY PLAYABLE FROM ALMOST THE START OF THE GAME!!" = false as hell advertising.

I really dislike 2.5d levels. Unfortunately galaxy 2 has a lot of them. Annoys me everyone seems fine with it, but what can you do.

Also disappointing, of the special stages I've opened, two of them are stages borrowed from previous 3D marios, and one is pretty damn close.

Galaxy 1 made me kind of miss playground style levels. Galaxy 2 is making matters worse. The matters are now bad.

It's called the Luigi door bro.

I guess this was a late-game spoiler. - Pandareus

@carlosrox

I have to disagree. As much as I love Super Mario 64...everything about the first SMG totally blew away Mario 64. And I feel SMG2 totally blows away the first SMG, thus making Mario 64 look and sound like chump change.

Ok, maybe it doesnt make Mario 64 look and sound that bad, but in my honest opinion, there is no comparing the Galaxy games to Mario 64. While I still remember when I first played Mario 64, the only way to make it closer to the Galaxy games is if Nintendo re-made Mario 64 with better visuals and orchestarted music.

@ Renjaku

I guess everyone is entitled to a wrong opinion every once in a while.

I don't know if I'm overreacting because I haven't had enough time to truly digest this game yet, but it pretty much makes the first Galaxy feel obsolete to me. Like, I can't picture myself going back and playing Galaxy at all when I could play 2 instead. Even my favorite Galaxies which I've replayed endlessly (Gusty Garden, Buoy Base, Melty Molten, the final level, etc...) just pale in comparison to most of the stuff in the sequel.

Hah, yeah... I'm sure I'll still go back to Galaxy, but this game does seem to have a lot more concentrated fun.

So does anybody happen to know if it's safe to get 119 stars before beating Bowser? I was going to do that with the original Galaxy but ended up screwing myself and having to do all of those purple coin challenges in a row. Ugh. Are there any stars that you can't get (out of the first 120) before beating the game this time?

24 stars in and just reached World 3. Trying to get every star I can before moving onto a new galaxy.

Yea. I don't wanna spoil it, but basically, it's impossible to get 119 stars before beating Bowser once.

If you don't care about what you unlock after beating Bowser:

After you beat him for the first time, you unlock World S. Here, a new Galaxy opens up once you get: 75, 80, 90, 100 and 110 stars. All of these have Comet Coins and Prankster Comets of their own, so you need them in order to get all stars and to get comets to appear in other Galaxies
