Hey guys, I hope you're enjoying the newest Mario title: "Super Mario Galaxy Wahooooo" (according to Charles Martinet on the load-up screen at least).

So how many stars do you have? Which galaxies have you most enjoyed? Favorite power-up? Be sure to mark spoilers though!

The Perfect Run with Luigi is gonna make me choke a bitch. Problem is, he Scooby-Doo runs for a second before he gets moving, so after landing a jump, he's an open target for those Hammer Bros.

"Dear Alaska_Gamer

You deserve a congratulations of cosmic proportions for collecting all the Stars and playing to the very end. Thank you!

You are truly a master of galaxies!

SUPER MARIO GALAXY 2 Staff"

Playtime: 27:08:08
Death Total: 308

Yeah, I know the letter starts with "Dear Player" but I put my username in it just to make myself feel more important.

Well, that's as far as I'll go for the game. I was thinking of doing the ghost runs like Het_Nkik is, but I've already exhausted myself with that final star, and I wanna wait a month or so before I want to revist each power star. Still, what a fantastic game, and I'm already working on a write up for the game (like a review, but with more analyzing over specific parts of the game and no score at the end).

Alright, fuck this game, I'm done with it forever.

242 Stars. 122 Ghosts. That's EVERYTHING. DONE.

That last star is NOT easy with Luigi. TIP: Jump on the last three enemies instead of spinning at them.

The last star... sort of makes me shake. Like, literally.

Brutal.

I congratulate you for going one step further with the ghosts. I kinda regret packing the game back up now, but at the same time I'm still exhausted from it all.

Still a fun journey it was.

What do you get from doing the ghost runs?!
06/05/10, 06:21
THE RIGHT TO CALL MYSELF A MAN.

But really, you get frustration and an urge to kill. And the satisfaction of knowing you really have EVERYTHING unlocked on the disc.

I just got my 82nd star. Working my way around World 5. The game became a bitch a few stars ago, I literally wanted to rage punch my cat when the Spring Mushroom came up and I had to jump over three-four Bow-Wows and the fucking thing didn't feel like jumping when I needed it to.

Nevermind, the second time you have to fly that bird, on the spacestation, is making me want to kill a child. I'm assuming I have to fly through the gates to unlock the Comet Coin and it's pissing me off.

w00t, child saved! Finally got it.

241 stars! Going to wait til tomorrow to try and finish. I gave it a go with about 10 lives and when they were through I need a break. What a phenomenal game.

Just got my 101st star. The hidden star on Boo Moon was the biggest bitch yet. Actually, I've died so many times today I feel like less of a gamer. Game really ramps up the difficulty around the 5th World

Looks like I've nabbed all the stars I could before the finale. Sucks that I ran out of battery power, but it's 4am and that sounds like a good stopping point.

@missypissy

The trick with the springs that I was accidentally doing but I think other are, I kept pushing forward on the control stick when I wanted to jump. it makes sense and all but it also prevents you from jumping the big jump. Once I let go of the control stick to do the big jump, it made it cake to use.

I just skipped the spring and backflipped over them.

Yikes, I'm 90 stars in and it's just getting super challenging.
On a side note, did anyone realize the 1-UP mushroom under the giraffe-shaped hedge at the start of Cloudy Court? You have to duck to get it. Made me chuckle.

Yeah, with my Weegee play through I was getting fed up with the fucking spring. Backflip + backflip to walljump to spin = don't even need to use the spring till the end of the level.

EDIT: And I guess the start just to get up that ramp.

Got 120 stars. Overall I felt it was harder than the first by a pretty fair bit. The Luigi Purple Coin wasn't nearly as tough this time, but the Roll Timed Purple Coin on Rainbow Road was murder.

Oh, yeah, the little star kid stole my fucking hat. What a prick.

We'll see if this tops NSMB Wii as my favorite Mario game. So far, it's brilliant, but it can't compare to the replay value, accessibility, and multi-player of NSMB Wii.

Still can't get the last star... rats. I was really hoping to do so before I go on vacation tomorrow, but it's just too repetitive and frustrating to keep trying at the moment.

@Hinph

What part is besting you most often?
06/06/10, 04:35
After the cloud part where you have to do all the insane flip-switch jumping and laser dodging, mostly... but then I'm also prone to messing up at the very beginning of the next area, where you have to dodge the horizontal lasers on those two platforms in a row... and then, of course, the few times I did get to those evil Hammer Bros, I was so shaky and nervous that I usually can't help but fail. haha... I was able to do that part the first time without getting hit at all on the 141st star, oddly enough.

I just wish there were a checkpoint right after the cloud part, because it's all so easy up to that point anyway... just frustrating to do over and over again.

@Hinph

If you can manage to not use some of your clouds then that helps a ton with the next part. Use a whole bunch of clouds right before the last electric wall, get the last cloud mushroom, jump on one of the clouds that you had already made, and then you should be able to get to the launch star with all three clouds left.
