I'm at 65 stars, completely done with the first two worlds, and inching my way towards the fourth world's boss. I haven't had much of a chance to play lately because of work and a friend coming back into town over the weekend, but I hope to get some more time in this weekend.
Last night I played for about two hours, and "beat" the game. That is, I took down Bowser and rescued the Princess. I think I had around 75 or so Stars at that point. I played a bit afterwards, and now have 80 Stars to my name. I'm not sure if I'll be able to get ALL the Stars in the game, but it's so much fun to play that I'll just keep going until it gets boring. Either that, or if another game comes along to steal my attention away.
Speaking of which, only five more days until Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker comes out...!
That final star was like hell i died like 40 times the sad thing is like 30 of those were before the hammer bros. I don't use star bits i don't know why I'm like too concentrated on Mario, i thought i was gonna die with the last boomerang but the long jump kick did the trick.
I don't think I'm even going to take on Bowser until I have 100ish stars. I always dislike when you "beat" the game and then and have a bunch of clean-up stars to do.
if you do back flips and and create cloud platforms as high as you can go, there's a 1-up mushroom up there so as long as you make it that far every time (which should be easy with all the practice you get : p), you'll never run out of lives.
Finally got the game yesterday and I have to say I adore it so far. It's like what I wanted from Mario Galaxy 1, but didn't know I did. Something about MG1 just didn't feel exactly right, but this time around it DOES. Yoshi is awesome to use, and some of the almost 2D parts are freaking amazing. Can't wait to play more.
That's not possible to wait that long I don't think... I think there's a lot of stars the unlock as a result... but I can't remember now. I think I went after him once I got to 80 something. Maybe I'm crazy.
I've finally unlocked the Grandmaster Galaxy and got the power star. And now I'm onto the comet challenge. Man...so hard. Not even a freaking checkpoint.
Yep its pretty hard some tips that have been said here if you miss them: At the beginning of the cloud part on the top there is a 1 up also in the electricity part after you pass the firs electric thing do a long jump and grab the star thing that makes you float
@Simbabbad Leave it to my brother to drag a good game down!
As I said in private, I'm going to start calling more attention to the collections and ratings in an on-going thread which I'll be posting today and bumping with new games/etc. so hopefully we will get a lot more Galaxy 2 ratings in the near future and then my brother and his INSANE 9.1 won't matter anymore.
(Apparently he liked it more than the 1st though, interesting...)
I keep forgetting to contribute my collection & scores to the site! After school is over and my homework is defeated, I'll take some time to plug in my opinions.
@Simbabbad I thought we DID consider number of ratings? But what is displayed are the rounded scores, while the actual placing is determined by the full scores, so Mario 3 might be like 9.761 while OOT is 9.759 or something...
Not totally sure.
Either way Galaxy 2 is back up near the top where it belongs. Vanquished my brother again!
Yeah but I think we order by number of ratings AFTER ordering by average? At least, I think that is how I originally set it up. So it would order by average first, but if there is a tie it orders by amount of ratings next.
It's really unlikely that anything with more than a couple of votes of are actual ties though. They only look like ties when they get rounded.
Anyone else going to do a Luigi ghost run with me? I have the first 5 worlds complete now. Just 6 and S left. It's seriously really fast. Plus it's fun to speed run the stars with Luigi. The extra height in his jumps make for some fun shortcuts.
