Why not sign up for a (free) account?

I haven't popped it in just yet, but Friday night is when I plan on giving it a good bit of time. I hope to play online on Friday as well.

Gotta thank those guys who warned folks about this game. I went into it expecting pretty much what it's been so far...and I've only just collected my first ore. I'm glad I got this puppy!

When you see people hype Monster Hunter, unlike a lot of other games, the hype is real. Infact, the actualy hype is pretty much always understated.

Just gt it myself yesterday, but I won't try going online with it for a few more days, until I feel I've got the hang of everything and get some bare-decent stuff at best. Thus far... I can already tell this is going to be a dangerous addiction I'll need to be careful of, lol.

Yeah I know... I have to get some work done this week... this game has already interfered enough for one day
But right now it's 'new' so I can get away with it...at least for a little bit. The rest of the week? Not so much.. Must work harder..play later....

First day.

Anyone have farming hints? I only the one "garden" and I'm growing mushrooms..but I'm wondering if I can have honey..or herbs as well...

...back to work..

S

In the PSP game you have to build a honey section so it will come later.

Herbs can be planted to make more herbs but it's easier just to go on gathering quests to get herbs. Or just buy potions.

Whatever you guys do, keep everything you gain. Be major packrats because you will need those items later..unless you really need to sell them.

I'm going to have to pop this game back into my PSP...

I started a file this morning. My name is simply "Grant" in-game. I haven't tried getting online yet, just went through the first "quest" and then returned home. Hopefully this weekend I'll be able to put more time into it.

Keep plugging away. Use "fertilizer" to Enrich. Slowly but surely. Shoot me an email, too.
I want to get on the same page with you specifically since we've been talking about it so much outside of here.

I think your name carries over to the online as well (it did for me...I didn't see an option to change it).. If it changes let me know but I'll put on on the 'list' above ..

@Mr. M

Send me a PM on here with your e-mail again...

Oh and I upgraded my bone sword or whatever to boneSword + and I used it for my first online battle and It sucked (it was dull after 4 direct hits).. I'm going to go with the hunting blade / iron weapons.. maybe they last longer (sharpness) Don't forget to upgrade armour too!

fun fun fun

I'm pretty sure that little bone weapon is getting dull because you're using it against a tougher monster.

Odd that you can't use the long sword yet? In the PSP games all types of weapons are available to choose from at the start. Even though they were the weakest weapons, we had each one in our item boxes to try out and sell off.
04/22/10, 21:39
@CRISIS hearts

I think you're right about the Bone weapon stuff. While stronger, it didn't even occur to me that it was less expensive because of its affinity to dullness. Interesting dynamic.. Could be back to Iron for a bit at the cost of weapon strength (but less whetting would be good..).

Nope. The weapons on your person are Sword/Shield and Greatsword.
You're free to Buy/Forge additional of each of those, as well as Hammer, Lance, and Bowgun. Other stuff opens up as it goes on, I'm sure..
(I may've forgot another opening weapon. Switchaxe, Longsword are NOT there to start)
04/22/10, 21:47
So I've been running around with my big ass sword for almost 4 hours now, I'm getting the hang of combat, and I'm really enjoying the game! I haven't been online yet, but my character's name is Grantzor. I can't wait to get online with you guys and kill some bitches!

Oh, in one of these million MH3 threads, I heard something about maybe using skype to communicate. I don't have wiispeak, and I'd rather not get one, but I should be able to get skype and a mic.
04/22/10, 23:59
How many European posters around here are planning to get Monster Hunter 3, if any? I could see myself getting the game, but only if I had enough people to play online with.
04/23/10, 00:13
Guys I really don't understand how the online works. can anyone else here has the patience to explain me. maybe chatting through skype while he or she walks me through it.

please

EDIT:

so I guess my online is Fabz. I have made some progress but I still don't understand why can't I just see right away if you guys are online or not and how to add you. it's giving me a headache.

Hi Fabz...

Crisis Hearts will probably do a better job.. I'm just figuring it out for myself.. but from what I'm getting from it is this:

- The city has everything you could possibly want (trade/blacksmith etc etc)- even more then the solo mission (at least so far) This means all your items/weapons/armour carry through, there is a bed for you with your pet 'pig' you met in the solo mission, (the cat is there too) You can save there as well.
-The early quests seem identical to the early solo ones but I think they go up in difficulty pretty quickly because they are intended for multiple hunters to quest together.
-If you see someone around, say hi. Resister yourself in the city at the Tavern (i think)..once you do this you don't have to do it again. No matter what server you go too...
-Once you are registered, you can go on quests etc. If you want to go with someone, look at the "job posting type board" at the bottom of the Quest staircase - there you can find quests to join with other players. If you want a regular type quest, talk to the girl at the big desk right beside it. This is the area where you can sit down at a table...or arm wrestle..
-Everything you collect in quests online (money etc) can carry over to the solo campaign.. Items/potions you have used during an online quest will not be recovered. If you used up all your potions in an online quest..going to the solo quest will display the same amount of items. (Unless you didn't save your game).

I don't have access to a computer where my game system is set up...so no skype for me..

If I've stated something wrong, sorry, I'm also knew at this..

S

Edit: There is a search function for a player once you get on..... Are you online now?? (6:30pm EST)
