Game's currently 15% off on the eShop. Time to go balls out!

Just got a neat little update, too:

And a video preview on features to come:

Multiplayer races! Battle Royale style "Baller Royale" multiplayer mode! Level Editor*!

*PC exclusive, but they plan to release dev-curated stages to players on other platforms

@nate38
Have you played it? Drop some 'pressions!
05/30/19, 01:55
@Anand I've played it for about an hour, and it's really fun! It's one of those games that's pretty easy to pick up and roll through, but it's immediately obvious it has a ton of room for mastery. I enjoyed Marble Blast Ultra on the PC/X360, and this is a spiritual successor to that, with many of the same developers on board.

I played a bunch of it back when it came out, it's really fun!

@Secret_Tunnel Are we not Switch friends? I don't see anyone else's times on my Friends leaderboard...this is the kind of game where it's a lot of fun to compare times with friends!

Having a lot of fun finding these hidden trophy marbles, enough so that I'm looking for them as I go through the stages for the first time. Some of them are deviously hidden, others are in hard-to-reach places that I've spent upwards of 30 minutes trying and failing to grab.

EDIT: The game does freeze a lot, though. Fairly often I'll reach the goal and finish a stage, only for the game to freeze, which means I have to replay the level. This isn't a huge problem when I'm just playing through casually, as I'm happy to replay the stage (few of them take longer than a minute) but man I'd be pissed if I get a really good time through a stage, only for the game to freeze and lose that run.

@nate38

Are we not!? I'm not sure! Add me however you add people!

I never had the game freeze on me! That must be new with the new update. It lagged HARD at the goal sometimes, but never froze entirely.

There were a couple of hidden marbles that I saw but had NO IDEA how to reach. There's one in a superjump level in Chapter 1, I think, that I don't get at all.

@Secret_Tunnel Added!

Apparently the freezing is a new thing from the update. They said in the Discord that they're working on a patch.

I think I know which one you're talking about in Chapter 1. I don't remember how I got it, but I think I used the super jump while hitting one of those rampy corner barriers at a decent speed to get height. I'm missing one each in chapters 2 and 3, and I know where they are but am struggling to get to them...

Just nabbed this. Super fun. Not going for time, cause I don’t care, but getting through the levels is a good time!
06/03/19, 03:06
Finished all the stages, including the DLC Chapter 6! They really go all out with the gravity stuff in a few of the DLC stages, it's super disorienting!

Only have a handful of the collectables left to nab, but man they're tough. I can find all but one of them, but some of them are super hard to reach. I have no idea how you're supposed to get to this guy with any consistency...

That's the closest I've come, and that's not a reliable strategy in the least...

...so I gave up on that one and finally picked up this one!

Is this still on sale?
06/08/19, 00:37
@DrFinkelstein Doesn't look like it. The sale was only a few bucks off anyway.

Got all the Diamond time medals in the first three chapters! Need to do the same in the last three chapters, and pick up a handful of hidden trophies that I haven't figured out how to nab yet, and that's it for the current content. Aside from the weekly challenges, which have all been pretty cool so far! Last week was extremely low gravity, and this week was backward levels. I have a good feeling I'll be playing these weekly challenges on the regular.

The game's full of stuff like this! Some shortcuts, like this one, are pretty obvious. Others are a lot less so, relying on exploiting the physics and curves/corners of the stage, or with powerups. Super fun looking for ways to shave off time in this game.

You can of course just watch the world record's replay, but I've only done that after I've already picked up the Diamond time medal. I wish you could watch more than just the top 5 replays. It'd be especially cool if you could only watch replays that were just a bit faster than yours, encouraging you to shave off time gradually to beat those just ahead of you instead of just showing you how the world record did it at any time.

Agreed, being able to spoil the solution for yourself shouldn't be an in-game feature!

@Secret_Tunnel I think it's a tad more nuanced than that, considering the ridiculous precision that most of those world record solutions require will be near impossible for most of us to employ successfully. And I like being able to see how they get such absurdly low times (and to confirm that some of them are indeed hacks and/or glitching directly into the goal somehow). But yeah, it provides a tempting shortcut past the joy of personal discovery of all those little shaves you can find for yourself.

I'm still enjoying this game! Next to Smash, it's my second most-played game on Switch at this point.

This week's special challenge changes the marble into more of a bouncy ball / super ball and feels really authentic, which makes for a very different feel and a cool change of pace.

I really like these weekly changeup challenges, but I'm still waiting on those multiplayer modes.

@nate38

I haven’t touched this in a while, but this week’s challenge sounds fun! I may have to put down Fire Emblem for a bit to check this out again.
08/09/19, 04:58
@nate38

That does sound cool! I might check that out.

Didn't they tease some "marble royale" mode!?

Marble It Up: Mayhem launched on Apple Arcade this month, with new levels and online multiplayer.

Free update with this content coming to the Steam and Switch versions "soon." Looking forward to it for sure.

Six months and 40 hours later, I finally 100% all the (currently available) singleplayer content! Some of the hidden and/or hard-to-reach trophies were super gratifying to snag, and the game has all the things that make for fun speedy 3D platforming to keep shaving off the seconds until you get that platinum medal time.

Plus, the developers are super accessible on the Discord. One night I posted a bug where one of the weekly challenge levels was failing to load, and within minutes they fixed it!

Yeah, this one's up there for me. Might be duking it out with Celeste for my GOTY (well, non-2019 release GOTY anyway) and the Mayhem update is one of few the games I'm looking forward to at this point.
