Outlast coming to the Switch in Q1 2018

They say "the Outlast franchise" so I'm assuming Outlast Trinity, which includes 1, 2 and DLC? They're a pretty popular pair of 1st person horror games for the PC and other platforms.

It’s time for a little status update from us.

First off, we wanted to take a moment to thank all of you that have bought Outlast 2 and have been supporting the studio for more than 5 years now. Red Barrels was nothing more than a dream, but with a lot of blood, sweat and beers it has now become a small, fully independent studio with a kickass team who can work miracles.

We strive to create unique experiences and take risks. Hopefully, we’ll manage to entertain you for years to come.

About the future, many of you have been requesting a DLC. While the first Outlast was made with the idea of a DLC in mind, that was not the case for Outlast 2. We’ve considered many options, but none of them felt appropriate for a DLC. Outlast 2 was created to make you feel like a rat in a maze, without any knowledge of what’s outside the maze.

We will, at some point, make an Outlast 3 and answers will be given. You can also check out The Murkoff Account’s epilogue. It takes places right after the events of the second game and offers some insight into the events in the game. (https://redbarrelsgames.com/comic-books/)

Currently we’re working on something a lot of you have been asking for... It won’t be a sequel to Outlast or Outlast 2, but it will be a distinct experience set in the Outlast universe. We can’t say more right now, we first need to make sure we can make it work. Like I mentioned, we strive to be risk-takers and this one is a pretty big challenge. If all goes well, we’ll soon be able to reveal more.

In the meantime, the Outlast franchise will be released on the Nintendo Switch during the first quarter of 2018.

Cheers!

The Red Barrels Team

Wow. This pleases this horror fan. It's not necessarily my favourite type of horror, but I'm game.

Oh nice! Love me some handheld horror! Will play.

I really, really, really wish Resident Evil 7 would make it's way to Switch as well. Capcom screwed up by not having that out for the Holidays!

Totally agree. Well, with all the big titles for Switch right now it may not have been the best time to release RE7, but it should have happened. Still irks me how Capcom acted all fussy when Nintendo developed the Switch, specifically demanded more RAM for the RE Engine and then end up not releaseing Resident Evil 7 for the damn thing even after everything was sorted. I guess there's still time for them to remedy that situation, but still.

Guys, guys.

We gotta pass the Resident Evil Revelations Collection Test first. Come on, you know how this works.

But if that sells well, we'll DEFINITELY see another old Resident Evil title ported over. And if THAT goes well, we'll finally see Resident Evil 4 ported over.

And then, if that goes well, the Switch 2 will be out and we can start taking the tests again.

@r_hjort
Maybe they will have a Switch “GOTY” edition that includes all the DLC once that stuff hits the other platforms?

@J.K. Riki
Lol, true. Both of the Revelations games are pretty decent though, just old.

I didn't see that coming. Great games. Highly recommended if you like deeply disturbing horror. I mean these games make you worry about the mental condition of the fine folk at Red Barrels.
