@GameDadGrant ...but you'll be too busy playing some 3DS game I never heard of instead.

Then again, does Switch even have an Ethernet port? Or support for a USB-Ethernet adapter?

Yesh, it supports USB-Ethernet adapters.

I've heard there will be a physical version at some point in the future, so I'll wait and see on that.

From what I hear, Sony has a policy which doesn't allow cross-play on the PS4. For example, the upcoming cross-play version of Minecraft is also not available on PS4.

@nate38 The Wii U Ethernet adapter works on Switch too.

@Mop it up This is true Sony bars cross-play, which is annoying because my cousin only has a PS4 and he loves Rocket League and he wants to play with me but... nope.

So....there's really not a single-player mode in this game?

I'll admit it. I LOL'd.

@GameDadGrant ? You can play single player against computer AI, do seasons and such. You just get computer AI partners on your team.

I warn you though, unless they fixed the computer AI since I last played the PS4 version a few months ago, your computer partners will suck and make a lot of dumb mistakes. It's frustrating to lose a game by a single goal after your AI teammate hits the ball in your own goal.

The AI on the other team will suck too of course, but it FEELS like your teammates are dumber.

My son and I are playing now.

One of my complaints is the same thing I ran into with the PS4 version, which is that matching doesn't really always (or even that often?!) set you up with people at your level. Having 3 rookies go up against a team of veterans and pros well... it's not really that fun.

But that's a minor gripe, otherwise it has been a lot of fun playing online!

I'm so terrible at this game online, but I still love it.

Offline is a different story though. I scored five goals in the span of about a minute and a half on the AI.

@ludist210 On what difficulty level? The easy mode is very easy, the next one up... took me awhile to win a whole season. I still haven't even tried anything up from there.

(This was on the PS4 version.)

@Zero I think if you play Competitive online instead of Casual online, you'll only be matched with other Switch owners. Shouldn't be too many pros or veterans in there, I would think.

That was on easy. I'm good on easy for now.

I watched my son play a match online last night. His team won! He even got to contribute a bit, since he was able to score (one goal, but hey)!

And yeah, I *watched* him play a match. Which means - for the first time in my house - the Switch was actually docked! And playing on a TV! Crazy, I know. But it happened. This is history in the making here, folks.

Wait... this game doesn't have music while you're playing it?

That, uh... kinda kills it for me.

That understandable but there are a number of in game sounds that you want to hear clearly. I will say that the soundtrack for this game, on the title screen, has grown into something really special through the years.

I always thought Mustache and the WiiU would have changed your ways. Who would of thought your own son would make you change! You must by a great dad.

We should start using Discord for team meet ups.

@Abdooooo Agreed, it would be fun to get some games going if there's enough interest. And the Game Invites channel in Discord would be good for that.

This is probably a dumb question, but when you buy the game do you automatically get the Samus car? Or is it an additional purchase?
Posted: 11/18/17, 23:23:09
@deathly_hallows I think it is free but you have to unlock it.
Posted: 11/19/17, 01:45:34
Yep, Zero's correct. I just unlocked it yesterday.

Man, the main thing keeping me from playing more online is the matchmaking keeps putting me with people way better than me. Where are the other n00bz at?! It's not fun when your team loses a 5 minute match 10-0. I know matchmaking is tough but I'd seriously wait longer to get a match with people actually at my level.

And the fact that this turns me off to playing more of course means I'll never catch up. BLAH.
