June 29, 2017 – Breath of the Wild DLC, GoNNER, and more hit the eShop. Check out all of this week's updates today at noon eastern at your favorite digital storefront.

Nintendo of America said:
This week’s Nintendo Download includes the following featured content:

Nintendo eShop on Nintendo Switch

GoNNER
– GoNNER from Raw Fury and Art in Heart is a challenging, procedurally generated 2D platformer with roguelike elements. The game follows the largely misunderstood and altruistic Ikk on a journey to cheer up his only friend in this world – a giant land-bound whale named Sally – by searching for just the right trinket in the deep and dark places nearby.

Virtual Console on Wii U

BONK 3 Bonk’s Big Adventure
– It’s up to Bonk once again to thwart the plans of the evil King Drool in this TurboGrafx-16 platformer. There are seven rounds scattered throughout the Dinosaur Kingdom, each one filled with fun contraptions and comical enemies. Depending on the situation, you can change your size to bonk your way through a dead end or to get a hard-to-reach item. And if that’s not enough, you can grab a friend and put your heads together to defeat King Drool in the two-player mode.

Devil’s Crush – In this TurboGrafx-16 pinball game, shoot the ball onto the board with the Devil Shooter, and then use flippers to rack up a high score. Complete certain conditions to play up to six different bonus stages. The game’s ominous theme is enhanced by its enemies: wandering skeleton knights, sorcerers and even a giant face that changes from a goddess to a sinister serpent.

New DLC:

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – Expansion Pass: The Master Trials
(Nintendo eShop on Nintendo Switch or Wii U) – More adventures await in the Master Trials pack, available June 30. By completing the Trial of the Sword challenge, Link will prove that he has grown worthy, and the Master Sword will be awakened to always be in its glowing, powered-up state while usable. Master Mode ups the challenge, Hero’s Path mode tracks 200 hours of footsteps on the map, the Travel Medallion creates a warp point, eight new armor items offer unique effects, and the Korok Mask helps locate Koroks. This content can only be obtained by purchasing the $19.99 Expansion Pass, which also includes The Champion’s Ballad, the second DLC Pack that will be available this holiday season. Full version of the game is required to use this DLC.

Might check out Mighty Gunvolt Burst now that it's on 3DS.

Totally forgot about the BOTW DLC batch. Don't know if I'm ready to jump back into the game yet, honestly. But I'll definitely get it eventually, if not soon.

I feel like GoNNeR had a good reception on other platforms, though I may be confusing it with another roguelike platformer. Seems to be no shortage of them these days.

The Master Sword better not depower after finishing the trial. I'll be so pissed if it does.

Also, the suspiciously friendly incarnation of Konami that currently resides in our dimension has updated Super Bomberman R again.

Super Bomberman R Version 1.4

- The shop carries three new characters in the form of Simon Belmont Bomber, Vic Viper Bomber and Pyramid Head Bomber.
- Features four new multiplayer stages that can be found in the shop: Plain Floor, Desert Fort, Panic Factory and Coveyor Belt Classic.
- The shop has two new accessory types for your characters; snowflake and item.
- Team Battle has been added to the battle rules for multiplayer.
- All multiplayer modes now net you in-game currency.
- The Power Zone stage's movement speed has been adjusted.
- Some minor bugs have been fixed.

Haven't managed to download the update yet, 'cause my power keeps going out due to a rainstorm, but this seems like a great update. Konami deserves some praise for keeping the updates coming and supporting an old Hudson IP like this.

If they ever decide to add the ability to adjust COM players' individual difficulty settings and appearances, and add some more classic levels (preferably with classic Jun Chikuma tunes to go with them) I'd be ever so happy.

@r_hjort I might end up grabbing this one up eventually if they keep making it better.

@Zero
I wouldn't stop you. It's a solid Bomberman title already. I mean, Bomberman '94 is still the reigning champion of Bomberman games to me, and I don't expect R to top it regardless of how many updates they give it, but it is closing in a little bit each time, and has become good enough in its own right to be a part of my Bomberman game rotation.

EDIT: Yeah, this update is nice. The new stages are pretty good! The Plain Floor is...plain, but its big, open space in the middle makes for some fun chaos once it opens up. The Classic Conveyor Belt stage is one of my perennial favourites, and it still holds up. I was hoping the Desert Fort would be a classic stage as well, but it's a variation on a pretty common theme for this game. Still good though. The Panic Factory was a nice surprise with tons of conveyor belt chaos and buttons that change the belt's directions when you walk across them.

The new characters are pretty fun as well. The Pyramid Head Bomber is hilarious. Looks chibi as fuck, but moans and groans, and lugs his giant butcher knife behind him during matches. Simon Belmont Bomber and Vic Viper Bomber were cool too.

EDIT 2: Hmmm. The framerate in single player seems to have taken a slight hit when playing with the new characters. Simon Belmont Bomber seems to drag the framerate down to sub 30 at times, at least. Multiplayer was as smooth as usual, though.

@sirmastersephiroth

It sounds like it will still be unusable for 10 minutes after you use it for a while

@r_hjort

I really appreciate the support Konami's given this one. It's a genuinely good game now!

I like the updates too; the three new Bomberman characters are obviously a lot of fun and amusing in their own ways, but I also dig the addition of Team Battles to multiplayer (finally!) and the game being far more generous with gems, leading to a lot more unlocks. At this point, there's no real obvious addition to Super Bomberman R I'd like to see, outside of maybe stat/pickup tracking during multiplayer bouts.

Same here. Actually, I've already downloaded it. Just got to find time to fire it up now!

GoNNER looks right up my alley. I'm gettin' it.

And Magical Drop III is the only thing stopping me from getting Magical Drop II.

What's up with that Activities section?

@r_hjort
I love that you can get gems for local multiplayer and skirmishes now. I get that they wanted people to play online, but c'mon!

Now I shall wait for someone to figure out how to scam the system. I tried dying immediately, but it didn't give gems every time.

The new characters are great. Is there a good guide for all of the power-ups and special abilities, though? Does every game still ship with a manual of some sort (on-cart, digital)? It doesn't seem like it.

Anyway, Mario Kart got updated, as well. Loving these continual free improvements. Even on a four-year old game! (More tracks, pls!)

@TriforceBun
Some fun power-ups are still missing. And a robust item/stage switch a large Smash.

If true, this is so damn dumb. I really hate how the Master Sword is gimped for ten minutes. I was hoping the trial would fix it.

I don't mind that so much, I just wish it had better durability. To be fair, the charge doesn't take very long, but the always glowing thing is cool. I never figured out how it works, I just noticed it reacted that way to certain enemies.

I read an AMA with the GoNNER guys which clinched my purchase. They seem super-genuine and cool. Plus, it's oozing with style and runs at 60fps! I've only played a bit so far. It's a bit Downwellian.

@Anand

I've heard the name GoNNER for a while now but I still have no clue what it is, haha.

@Secret_Tunnel
It's like a Roguelike. People are comparing it to Spelunky, but it feels more similar to Downwell.
