We're already at risk of being DDOS'd with your UNFORGIVABLE 6.0 score.

Is that your real score for the game, or did you find an upgraded mop?

@Hero_Of_Hyrule Nah, that's just me being silly, Zero told me to stop it with my joke 0 score so I was slowly increasing the score by 1 each time I visited since then, for my own amusement if nothing else. I have a weird sense of humour, I know.

Still not sure what my final score will be since I'm not done with the game, but I guess I could enter what I'm really feeling at the moment and change it later if I wanted.

I didn't exactly say STOP I presented my reasoning for why it would be nice to have accurate scores and left you to your own devices.

@Hero_Of_Hyrule I'm liking this game a lot more than you are and I'm still too early in to give definitive views on this either way, but I don't think you're wrong in that other Zelda games are better a lot of individual parts than BOTW is. While I definitely think this is one of the best Zelda games, it feels like there was some give and take to get it made. Lost a lot in puzzles (and probably dungeons, though I haven't gotten to one yet) for instance. Soundtrack is not really the best. There doesn't seem to be as much powerful storytelling as something like Majora's Mask had, and my memory is a bit foggy but I definitely remember some pretty smart puzzles connected to Majora's Mask sidequests as well (some of that here too, but maybe not at the same level?)

The combat is awesome in the sense that it is dynamic and individual battles matter again, and a lot of the mini set piece battles are awesome, and it's cool to just stumble upon boss fights, but none of the fights I have had so far feel as brilliant as a really powerful Zelda boss fight... so for me it is tough to say where the combat ranks.

Exploring though, by FAR the best. And it just feels so packed and alive.

@Zero I can read between the lines, I could tell what you were really saying is "Cut that out right now or we will ban you, your children, and your children's children! We will then find out where you live, steal all your games and replace them with a hundred copies of Carmageddon 64! I can be the one and only true Zero, so no zeroes shall ever be given to any game!"

By the way, has anyone ever given a 0 as an honest score and not some sort of joke or troll?

@Mop it up

I gave Spider-Man X-EMN III a zero, but that was more in *response* to a joke. Kris gave it a 10 and set the average above Ocarina. Dark times for NW. Dark times indeed.

@Mop it up I gave the Wario Ware DSi game a zero because I could not get it to function. The camera would not recognize my face no matter what setup I used, rendering the game unplayable.My digital copy of Lego Batman 3 softlocked all of the 5 or so times I played it, so I gave up and slapped it with a zero.

I think tbun als gave Final Fantasy I and II on GBA a zero, but I dont know why.

I doubt few games on this planet deserve a 0. The lowest I could see giving even the shittiest games I've ever played is like a 3 or 4. And I'm trying to think what games they might be.

Pit Fighter on SNES jumps out at me as a dreadful game.

Anyways back to sink more hours into the western region of the map. There seems to be a major Shrine Quest involving some gameplay I really haven't seen elsewhere so I think I'm gonna do thatt before I move onto the village I'm supposed to get to leading to the DB of the region.

I would only give a 0 to a game that was actively offensive, like that racist Stormfront game. But I'd never actually play a game like that and I wouldn't review it, so the option is more theoretical.

@kriswright I feel like that is one game I'd be ok with giving a 0 without actually playing it. There is no amount of good gameplay that could make up for that.

The lowest scores I have actually given out on here are a trio of 6.5s to Ice Climber, Wrecking Crew and Yoshi. I love Nintendo but some of their early NES games were pretty mediocre. I guess some of their modern games are pretty mediocre too but I tend to avoid those, somehow I ended up owning all 3 of the above though.

I originally had Skyward Sword ranked as a Zero before I actually reviewed it.

Haha, what the heck? That got a 7.5 from me. Although it's possible I accidentally gave something else a 0 on the site, I can't think of any game I hate THAT much.

Sense of puzzlement - love it.

"Will this work?" - love it.

"Am I doing this right?" - love it.

I spent all day exploring Hyrule Castle but not actually going into it. I did manage to finally find the final memory of those original 12 that I was missing which was found above Zelda's Study and Bedroom. It was quite exciting to finally make it there and nab that. Now that I am getting really good at timing my guardian parry's to return it's beam I am beating up Guardian's left and right. I'm running out of guardian shields though since I'm not perfect at this tactic.

I have a really nice armor set going on. It's not the greatest looking but it still looks cool in it's own way. It's the Ancient Helm, Ancient Cuirass, and Ancient Greaves all of which are up to level 3 which gives me a Ancient Proficiency bonus. With all my memories back and the Master Sword in my possession… with all four Divine Beasts under my control… it may finally be time for me to go fight Ganon.

However, I feel like I want to get more hearts and more stamina before I do it. I wanna be a rocking God of sorts when I get up there because I know it'll be tough either way. Oh, that reminds me… my general proficiency with fighting those Silver Lynels found within the castle grounds made me feel pretty good but its always great to save before a fight…

Did anyone else take more time before fighting Ganon or did you do anything else like I think I will? My stats right now are as follows, so I suspect I am all good but I still want to be better! I think it'll be me spending time doing whatever side quests and shrine quests I currently have. Oh yeah, the stats. I've got…

79 Shrines Completed.
Two and 4/5th's Stamina Wheel
17 Heart Containers
122 Korok Seeds Collected
2,277 Rupees on hand
Four Divine Beasts Resolved

@DrFinkelstein You can perform that trick with any shield. Even the pot lid.
Posted: 03/20/17, 03:01:04
@DrFinkelstein

I kinda went in on a whim expecting to get my butt kicjed. I didn't prepare correctly - wasn't even wearing my best armor - and managed to just eek out a win. So I wouldn't say I took my time, but I didn't go in with complete seriousness, either.

That is phenomenal to know! I thought it was just the specific ones to their type of enemy.

@kriswright

Noted. Maybe I'll first go back and explore inside more. Today I spent my whole day exploring outside of it pretty much. I want to find that cookbook for that random side quest.

But I'm pretty sick atm so I should probably stop playing and just go to bed.

So a planned scouting mission to Hyrule Castle turned into a calculated plunder of Hyrule Castle turned into...well, I like how the cursor starts on "Downloadable Content" after the credits roll, haha.

And now, to grab MS, actually finish all four DBs, and find that danged last memory photo I'm missing. I managed to get the last two or three based on landmarks in the background, but this one's just a picture of some trees...I don't think I'll be able to suss out which of the many forests this memory takes place in. And I can put a few of the more interesting items I got in Hyrule Castle to good use at the special shrines....

@nate38 Have you been to all the stables? I found that one from the hint provided by the painter guy. Well, that's pretty much how I've found any I've found...
Posted: 03/20/17, 05:58:07
@Mop it up It's entirely possible that I'm missing one or more stables. I did make a run around all of the stables I have (or at least I think I did) looking for him to get clues, but I may also have missed a stop or two.
