Happy New Year faithful listeners! Joe (Ninsage) and Stephen (DrFinkelstein) are back for more! 2017 has already brought a lot of change and more is yet to come. One of the most notable changes is the change in the console cycle for Nintendo, with the Nintendo Switch. We're here to talk about it, and there is a LOT to discuss.

This episode features long-time guests of the show, Grant (GameDadGrant) and Paleo_Steno for a two-hour evaluation of the Nintendo Switch and it's games.

In the first segment the gang discusses the overall presentation, the Joy-Con controllers, the Online Services shown so far, and the rather ingenious Parental Controls App Nintendo is developing. In the second and third segments of the show, it's all about the games. The games featured on this episode include but are not limited to… ARMS, ULTRA Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers, BlazBlue for Switch, Splatoon 2, Super Bomberman R, Fire Emblem Warriors, Puyo Puyo Tetris, Project Octopath Traveler, and even more than that… you know… like Super Mario Odyssey and some The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild!

Negative World's site owner and operator, Zero provides the intro and outro. Break music is pulled from Puyo Puyo Tetris and The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword.

Apologies to the fine podcast crew for not giving a hearty thank you for yet another great podcast. I listened a few days after it was dropped, and really enjoyed the discussion. After this long I don't remember specifics to mention, but I do recall talk about future custom joy cons. This seems like an obvious idea, and I actually have several of the custom wiimotes, like Mario and Luigi and Peach. I even have a few of those GameCube controllers for the Wii as well. Good times. So thanks for an awesome show Stephen and Joe and Grant and Paleo!

Stephen, I giggled a bit when I heard you mention that you're not a fan of Walmart as a company. I get it, and understand the general complaints. One thing that drives me bonkers in general, though, is when I'm listening to my usual podcasts and I hear the standard Walmart rant (which sometimes goes so far as to mock the shoppers of Walmart, something I find reprehensible. Don't worry, I KNOW that's not you, even a little bit), and in the next sentence, the 'virtues' of amazon are brought up. Ha! I love Walmart and despise amazon. Go figure.

@Koovaps

Glad you enjoyed the show Koovaps! Hopefully you'll find the next one as engaging. Similar topics but we talk about a lot of different games. I'm really surprised custom joy-cons were not there from the start. It would have been excellent to have the option to have a Mario and Luigi themed set.

As for Wal-mart, yeah, just don't care for them. I do enjoy Amazon though. Sounds like a topic for an upcoming podcast where we discuss where we prefer to get our games and why. I like that.. care to join us? Let's make it work!

Browsing NW and listening to NWP today. Good stuff!

That Parental app is super-smart. It's the modern parent's Orwellian Dream!

Street Fighter could be cool, but they couldn't get Udon to draw up a few new sprites?! I can't wait to play as Queasy Zangief in the sequel. There is supposedly some kind of first-person mode, as well. Which might just come down to throwing Hadokens with the Joy Con. That would actually be kind of neat, but I hope there's more to it. I remember when all of the 3D PS1 fighters had first-person mode for Console Link play.

@Anand

I'm not even a parent and I love the way they're handling the parental controls. As for Street Fighter sprites.. no comment.
