Nintendo knows when it's got something good on its hands. Splatoon 2, alluded to in Nintendo's 2015 Fall Preview of the Switch, has finally been blown out in glorious fashion at the January 12th/13th event.
Key Features: New Weapons (like the Duelies) New stages and classic stages (some with zip lines from the single-player mode!) Online Multiplayer Expanded Local Multiplayer Presumed Single Player Mode New Mode: Salmon Run (aka Horde Mode) - 4 player co-op
Key Questions: What are you most excited about from the trailer? What are you most hopeful for? Are you buying at launch? When do you think launch will be?

Ploot and DrFinkelstein Discuss The July 6th, 2017 Nintendo Direct about Splatoon 2
Gotta say it again: I love Splatoon's charm! The chat logs in the Octo Expansion are pretty great! Well, the one that I've unlocked so far is, anyway. And there's some cool new tunes as well! The one for level B01/A03 is friggin' sweet. Mellow but a tad weird. Love it!
FYI there's a cool new Nintendo rewards thing that you can get a PDF of an alternate cover for your Switch case that has the expansion on it instead of the traditional art. I really love this idea, so I got it and am going to print a copy to swap covers. Super cool! Reminds me of my younger days when I used to make PS1 CD cover art for all the games I... got... in certain ways that I am ashamed to admit.
If they did this with other games, I would toss all my Platinum coins in that direction for sure. 100%.
Beat the Octo Expansion just now, but I've still got a lot of stuff to come back to.
I adore Splatoon's world and the lore. I honestly want to see a Splatoon 3 for the plot's sake. Not just that, obviously, but it's becoming an increasingly big draw for me to see where they're gonna take that post-apocalyptic universe of theirs.
Is there another place people hang out when they play? Oftentimes I'll see many people online, but they're not in Discord, so I have no way of getting their attention. This is why Switch really needs messaging within itself!
If you see me online, and you want to see if I wanna play, just direct message me to get my attention. My phone will alert me. I don't hang out in Discord while playing most games unless I already have a reason to.
@DrFinkelstein In retrospect I should probably have done that too. Not because I missed out on anything, but the final part of the expansion was good enough that a longer build-up to it had been nice. To me, Octo Expansion picked up all the standard campaign's slack in a big way, despite recycled enemy designs and such.
I just 100% completed the Splatoon 2: Octo Expansion DLC. What an awesome pack that was! Fun story addition, challenging stages, and a unique way to cap off the overall Splatoon 2 single-player. I am incredibly content.
Glad my future in-laws let me play a bit while they're here so I could finish this up this weekend.
Every station, in every way, collecting everything. Every battle won. Every mem cake received. Octoling surfaced. All items earned.
Loving the Octo Expansion so far. So much style. I didn't care for the regular single player campaign, but this is Splatoon at its best. Small stages are perfect, the characters are great, and the music is awesome. 🐙❤️
