Corpse Party on the 3DS

Welcome to the official discussion thread for Corpse Party on the 3DS!

To start, please add this game to your log, add it to your collection (if applicable), and (when you are ready) rate it using the link above!

Kisaragi Academy student Mayu Suzumoto is transferring to a new high school, leaving behind a sizable group of friends and countless lovely memories. To help her cope with this move, her friend Ayumi has devised a seemingly innocent plan: the whole group will come together to perform a charm she found on the internet called "Sachiko Ever After", which is supposed to bind all of its participants together as friends to the end.

This does not go as expected.

Following an intense earthquake, the group awakens to find themselves separated and trapped in an alternate reality version of Heavenly Host Elementary School, a tragedy-stricken institution that once stood on the site of their own school but was torn down long ago. Here, the vengeful spirits of elementary-aged children threaten their lives and their sanity, and the only hope of survival - much less escape - is to uncover the chilling details surrounding the murders of those trapped before them.

A chilling exploration/RPG/horror adventure awaits! Will you brave the unknown and help Mayu and her friends escape damnation?!?

I totally forgot this game existed. I was curious...

It's pretty neat, so far. I've played about an hour or so. I got the retail edition for $50, but the eShop version can be downloaded for a cool $29.99.

This looks pretty neat. How spooky is it, on a scale from Yoshi's Story to Resident Evil?

Yoshi's Story being maximum spookiness, of course.

So far it's not so spooky as it is eerie. The music while you are exploring definitely wrenches DOWN the tension, though the flip side to that is when the music cuts out...a sharp feeling of sudden dread could come over you.

There aren't any jump scares (so far) so I'd put the mood/atmosphere at a solid 9 Hours, 9 Persons, 9 Doors level of vibe. The eeriness comes more from the descriptions of things happening. (at one point two of the girls stumble across a corpse and they describe their revolt of the mess they are looking at...and the odor they're smelling...and how one girl nearly threw up upon seeing it. It gets worse, but you get the idea?)

I just got my Vita fixed and I really want to try this game. Now I can get it on either device.

@DapperDave

There's a version of this game for PSP, too. You may be able to download it on Vita, too!

Sounds cool. But is the physical version only the fancy package one or is there a $30 one?

@TriforceBun

I think there is a non-fancy box version. Probably. Maybe.

Not at GameStop though. Pretty sure there is only the fancy box version. $50, yo. Comes with a music CD and two customizable figurines of the games' characters! What value...!
