I still have one of the level themes stuck in my head and I beat this game like 3 weeks ago now.

In the little town of Pencilvania, there lived a brother and sister who loved to play with balloons. Alice and her younger brother Jim, with spend endless days filling the skies with their balloons.

One day, Jim filled all his balloons and tied them together to make a beautiful balloon rainbow across the sky. "What a great idea this was Jim", said Alice, "but please be careful!". Just then, a strong wind blew and Jim was carried away into the sky. "On no! This is terrible, I must save Jim!", thought Alice. Meanwhile, Jim who was a very clever boy, thought, "I wonder how Alice will find me.........Wait! I've got an idea. I'll leave a trail of balloons for Alice to follow!".

Help our Balloon Kid Heroine Alice find her brother Jim, by collecting the balloons he has left behind. But watch out! Mean animals and dangerous obstacles will try to prevent Alice from completing her search.

I've gone back and forth on getting this for a while. I enjoy Balloon Fight well enough; is this enough of an upgrade to be worth the cost?

Yes, absolutely. This game is far better than Balloon Fight. Which wasn't bad to begin with!

I really dig this game. Classic Nintendo.

I agree about it being better than Balloon Fight. It's an actual game, in a more modern way of thinking. Balloon Fight was a Joust clone with a fun secondary game. Balloon Kid takes that secondary mode and makes a whole game about it. I quite enjoyed it.

This game has been on my radar for about 5 or 6 years now, but I've never gotten around to it because I heard it was a lackluster sequel to an NES game I wasn't big on. I mean, Balloon fight is fun for an early NES game, but that isn't saying a whole lot in my book. It's fun for a bit and fairly charming, but nothing special.

So it's interesting to hear the praise for it here. Maybe I'll finally give it a go this Christmas. I've been in the mood for a Gameboy game for some reason.

@TriforceBun It's worth it just for the music. Especially for $3

I was always a big Balloon Fight fan. It's like a playable version of Joust!

I liked all of that 2P shit, back in the day. Even the stuff that everyone seems to hate now, like Ice Climbers, Mario Bros., Anticipation, Clu Clu Land, etc.

Remember Clu Clu Land? It's like Pac-Man on Ice Skates!

Anyway, I downloaded this, but I never made it through. I was enjoying it, though. I should go back and finish it up...

Speaking of Balloon Fight, I also ordered Tingle's Balloon Fight from Japan a couple of years ago, since Nintendo stonewalled the US for so long. It's 4P Balloon Fight! But it's really, really, really easy!
