Hype is over, someone make a Game thread!

Done! I'll spiffy thus one up a but when I get back from out of state. Here for some sudden family business.

However, my copy of Xenoblade Chronicles X is arriving tomorrow and I am stoked! The reviews have been generally positive. I guess the game lacks slightly in areas but they can be overlooked for the sheer density and fun this game has. Looking forward to diving into it next week. Hopefully when I return sunday.

Finally got back into this, put in like 6 hours over the last few days. Like half of that time was spent leveling up this low level woman who I took a affinity mission with and realized that I wasn't going to stand a chance at her current level. I wish you could quit out of affinity missions.

Anyway, finally got my Skell. Haven't had time to use it much. Kind of afraid to. Skells can be destroyed and you have to buy new ones or something? No idea how that all works.

There is this mission I took VERY EARLY ON where I had to collect this thing but couldn't because it was right in front of this sleeping high-ish level beast who woke up every time I got close. So now that I have a Skell I thought hmm, maybe I can kill it now? But for some reason it didn't even wake up. Can sleeping beasts not detect Skells or something?!

Enemy hostility changes based on if you're in a Skell or not (and their aggro range reduces relative to your level). Either one could be a factor.

As far as Skells, yes they can be destroyed. It will give you a Soul Challenge (the circular B-prompt) to give you a chance to eject with no penalty, but you have to hit Perfect. Otherwise, your insurance (it's automatic when you acquire a Skell) will replace it a few times for you automatically. After that, you'll have to pay or use a salvage ticket. Skells can be restored at the little terminal in the middle of your barracks by just going to the hangar option.

Just as a PSA, normally when someone in a party is in a skell and it gets destroyed it will just get replaced without affecting anything. That only works when there's skell insurance left. Once the skell insurance hits zero you have to pay/use a salvage ticket to replace it (even when you hit perfect on the quick time event)

Uhg, had nearly finished with my Skell missions last night, but just now got a text from my wife. My 3 yr old decided to put a disk in the system when XenoBlade X disc was already in. She got both discs out, but X was scratched and the edge cracked. LAME.

@cooliocuneo

That IS lame!! Does it still work at all?! EGAD.

@Mr_Mustache I took a look at it last night, and while there are a few very, very small chips, I think it's all cosmetic. It's like there is clear coat/top layer protecting the disk, and the chips are only in this protective outer layer. I did not get a chance to play it. Will give a shot tonight.

@cooliocuneo

Well be careful with it! It sounds scary. There IS a process that they can do to 'restore' chipped/scratched discs; do you think it may be worth pursuing?

Two more levels and I can buy a non-flying Level 50 Skell

That is correct, Blu-ray (and equivalent knock-off discs like Wii U's) have a protective plastic layer on top that the laser focuses through. Whether that's all that's affected, though, is anybody's guess.

Now that I have a properly equipped level 50 skell the game kind of plays itself. I reached level 60 before I knew it and most of the side characters are level 50 or above.

I should probably finish the story, but I'm worried that once I "beat the game" I won't have any motivation to keep playing, and I have a grudge with some of the level 80+ tyrants

Started playing this again over the last couple of nights, and I now have my skell!! They are super expensive, having issues making enough money for gear and my Skell, don't know what it's gonna be like when everyone reaches 30 and I need to get skells for everyone.

@Pokefreak911

Would you really get that many different Skells, or just move them around between your other party members? Hmm..

I crafted my first piece of the bunny costume last night... it was difficult to resist the temptation to use up all my resources and craft the rest of it. I'm trying to hold out for a Level 60 skell

Oh man, isn't it awesome? I was mouth ajar when someone joined me in full regalia. Egad!

(I've been spending my tickets on ingredients for them though.. Whiskers and the like.)

It was really difficult to reset the game after I crafted the ears, top, and bottoms.

@Pokefreak911 The Level 50 Skells are even more fun.

So what did you do, test them out to see what everything looked like? What are you saving everything else for? If you don't use it, you lose it..or something.

It reminds me of when I REFUSED to use my Megalixir in Final Fantasy III because I had to save it for a really good time. The credits roll; "hmm, never used it.."

@Mr_Mustache That's how I used to be with all good items in RPGs and such.

Now I'm like F IT, LIVE FOR THE MOMENT.

Pretty much... it took about 4500 reward tickets to craft three pieces (and I already had enough stem cells). I'm saving my tickets for a level 60 skell / some superweapons.

It doesn't matter now, though. I maxed out the stem cells so I felt obligated to craft everything except for the cuffs.

Its a good look. I can't say I'm not jealous. (I really gotta get playing again...work schedule is crapola though now..)
