Hype is over, someone make a Game thread!

Done! I'll spiffy thus one up a but when I get back from out of state. Here for some sudden family business.

However, my copy of Xenoblade Chronicles X is arriving tomorrow and I am stoked! The reviews have been generally positive. I guess the game lacks slightly in areas but they can be overlooked for the sheer density and fun this game has. Looking forward to diving into it next week. Hopefully when I return sunday.

Bozé has a really nice set of affinity missions, I have to say.

Lower left of Commercial District? Any landmarks that would draw me to him? I haven't looked since learning of his location, but I'd like to find him somewhere soon. He's going out with me next time, definitely (gotta get that Affinity up!).

@Mr_Mustache I hope you've found him by now. He's right at the edge of that district unless he's on one of his heart to heart things. Maybe its bugged? There's a gamefaqs discussion where someone thinks that's the case.

Also, I stupidly accepted story mission 12. Apparently I'm nowhere near strong enough, but you can't abandon missions and I can't take on affinity missions until I beat it. Ah well, just have to grind.

@Cubed777

Always save before story/affinity missions! :) Especially because there is apparently a bug in one of them, and if you get hit with it you have to totally restart the game.

Hah well it doesn't matter now

@Cubed777 if you can, get a level 50 Amdusias and a Phoenix, use augments to increase the Skells ranged accuracy to around 300 and add some augments for ranged accuracy and then fly up the giant waterfall and get to a giant flower to find a tyrant called "Joker the Unknowable" who is relatively easy to kill but even then you'll still get a decent amount of experience from the Blattas he has partying with him.

Hah thanks. I'm still a few levels below 50, so it'll take some time. But I'll get there at some point I guess.

I've been a bit distracted the last few months but I finally got around to starting the game today and before I knew it the whole afternoon was gone. I'm really enjoying it so far.

@J.K. Riki
That's good to know.

After beating the game, we went back to try a few of the final affinity missions and they literally have you up against level 80 monsters (several at a time). So we went online and watched the ending videos and that will be the end of that! Fun game, hope there's another one. Guess it's time to trade this puppy in for something else!

Which quest breaks the game?

With Fire Emblem on the horizon I decided to finish off the story in this game. And as I heard the final boss is kinda B.S.. Well not so much fighting it but the fact that if you lose a skell it's gone until you finish the mission. Or I guess you could decide to restore a previous save. The following is only slight spoilers, more about the structure of that last mission than anything else.

So I was fighting the first boss and everything was going fine. Until he apparently became impervious to my attacks. I guess I should've paid more attention to the area, but I didn't realize more enemies had shown up. I didn't realize this until all my teammates had lost their skells. So I had to beat the rest of the game with only my skell. It was a pain but I managed after a couple of tries to beat him with my one skell setup.

But then there's some random creatures who show up? My team got wiped, but I barely got a scratch in my skell.

And then there's another boss fight. It just feels like they're throwing this stuff in here to fulfill the multi-form end boss cliche that so many RPGs have. It took a few tries and I think targeting specific body parts helped. But then cut scenes and credits and more cut scenes. And I want to keep playing but I've really ignored most of the games I got this Xmas.

@Cubed777

I haven't been back, but thanks for caring (really!). I got caught up in other stuff this week. Maybe Wednesday night? Thursday afternoon?

@J.K. Riki

Tell me more about this bug....that would be NO GOOD.

Seriously! How you gonna leave us hanging, mannn?

Y'know, I still have no idea what some things do in this game, such as augments for example, and, well, pretty much anything at the AM terminal aside from leveling up manufacturers. Is this stuff important, or is it just there for people who want to go deeper?

@Mop it up

Augments? You mean the skills, or the actual augments themselves? They give you little boosts; have you played Final Fantasy III or VII? Think "espers" or "materia". If you mean the skills (ie: Virus = Can't Use Ranged Weapons!), you can find those out while trying to craft an augment, or dig through the manual a little bit. I found the Virus thing out that way.

-I- think that the augments are important. I want YOU to craft a "25%+ Back Attack" one for your main weapon, so you can rough them up when I've got them taunted. Really! Make it happen!
Posted: 02/17/16, 01:20:07
@Mr_Mustache Yeah, things like augments and develop new gear and all that jazz. I'll probably just end up finding a guide since it's a real pain to figure out.

I've already maxed out the dual weapon class so I'm no longer using it.

@Mop it up

Why do you need to find a guide though? You just walk up and it tells you what it does..?

I haven't fired it up in over a week. Thats what happened with the Wii game! I gotta resume, I MUST!
Friday, I'm gonna be pounding it. I HAVE TO! What Level are you up to, have you run away from me?
Posted: 02/24/16, 01:46:58
@Mr_Mustache I'm afraid I've already reached the max level, but it's only 60 which is not that far ahead. At this point it's all about the Skells, and I still don't have anything beyond the basic ones you can buy.

Comparing attributes, figuring out what mixes well together, looking at what ingredients are required, trying to remember the nonsense names for everything, etc., is all a lot easier to manage using a text document displayed on my computer than fumbling around within the game.

@Mop it up

Wellll, just remember you can use the console and BLADE tickets to collect "carves" that you didn't get. I really gotta get back on there, perhaps tonight? Perhaps not. How does your Friday look? I'd like to play Friday for sure.
Posted: 02/25/16, 00:08:11
@Mr_Mustache Yeah, I try to be in active squads so that I can get tickets. I also work towards the squad tasks myself if I know where the targets are.

It seems everyone wants to play a game on Friday, I don't know which to choose!
Posted: 02/25/16, 23:36:55
@Mop it up

CHOOSE LIFE (OR XENOBLADE)

What times are you around? Maybe we can play early and everyone else plays something else late? I'm off all day. Pick a time, and I'll do my best to be around.
