Ladies and gentlemen, your Nintendo Wii Game of the Year for 2015...or is it?!

It's also available on Wii U and 3DS, but don't you want to play it on the platform recommended by the game's creator?

@Anand

Remember when you were so excited about underwater fights in Monster Hunter? "360 degree swimming!!" So easy to find yourself upside down and BARFING. Zombi U also has a "turn right arond, 180 style!" that I never seem to use. Not sure if thats what you mean.

If you want to barf, play Descent (or its N64 clone, Forsaken).

I'm here and there on the underwater fights in Monster Hunter (which were removed in MH4, btw). The idea is cool, and it IS genuinely different, but it's not like it's actually fun to swim. It's slow(er) and clunky(ier). I was talking more about movement options that make it MORE fun to fool around in the game world.

@GameDadGrantI love it when games have more movement mechanics than you actually need. It really enhances the sense of 'play' in something like Mario Sunshine or even Mega Man Zero (where you can essentially ice skate through the levels).
I agree, that's one reason why I like Super Mario 64 so much. It has a lot of moves that you don't need much or at all, such as the slide kick for example, but they're nice to play around with and they make it fun to simply run around and explore. I think Super Metroid has a bit of this as well.

So I picked the game back up a few days ago and zipped through the second half. I actually haven't beaten the final boss, but I don't know if I'll bother. I think I got to the end of it and then died against a crappy part. And the 5+ minutes leading up to that were tedious and dull, so I really don't feel like doing that again right now.

All in all, I'm let down. Rodea's unique, for sure, and it doesn't feel like any other game I've played. But it rarely goes beyond "whoosh at this thing and hold the attack button," and when it does things get wonky in a hurry.
