Why not sign up for a (free) account?

I might actually get this again, just because I can, and because the game is so damn fine.
EDIT: Mis-read the price. Yeah, I think I'm getting this again.

EDIT 2: IT HAS A MANUAL?! It's pathetic how happy this makes me. I miss the days of manuals.

Hooray, I was just complaining that we've heard nothing about the game's upcoming DLC thus far!

They also hinted in today's backer update that Nintendo systems will be getting exclusive content of their own, presumably along the lines of the boss fights exclusive to PlayStation (Kratos) and Xbox (Battletoads).

Nintendo-exclusive boss, eh?

Link, I guess you're up.

@nate38 It also says the first free DLC should be releasing before the retail copy so... soon.

@Zero Yeah they said we'd get a launch date sometime in July. That is, the announcement of a launch date, not that it will necessarily launch in July.

I played the first level of Shovel Knight the other day and thought it was pretty solid. Definitely like an old Capcom game running on a souped up NES of some kind. I didn't run out and buy it, but it would definitely scratch that platformer itch if I didn't already have a bazillion platformers in my backlog to play.

Or an amiibo?

...probably just amiibo support.

It's nice how a few indy games are starting to get some retail releases. I may get this at some point, it could be a nice collector's item.

Whoa! Maybe I'll get the 3DS package just for funsies! Would be cool to have a manual. It would be really fun if this came in different packaging, like it had a black and silver NES-style box.

Me too. It feels like something is missing when I crack open a cool new game and there's no manual inside. I still enjoy flipping through instruction booklets full of tips, artwork, and colorfully written text. Not every booklet has those things, but the good ones do!

Shovel Knight was one of my favorite games of last year, so I'll definitely buy a boxed copy that comes packaged with a neat manual and extra content.

I haven't played the game, but for some reason the idea of having a physical copy really piques my interest. The game's been on my radar for a while, now it's just getting more attention.

@DrFinkelstein

And you know how much I love having the games in a physical format.

So the question becomes: do I go 3DS or Wii U?

DEBATE FOR WHERE MY LOYALTY SHALL LIE!!!!!

Wii U. This is in the style of classic NES and it needs to be played on a TV. That's my opinion but man is it glorious on a big screen.

It's such a bummer that they still have so much DLC to finish. I really want to see them just get to their next project.

3DS! This is a perfect game for a handheld and it looks amazing in 3-D with the parallax scrolling. The Wii U version looks great too but after playing it on 3DS it falls a bit flat.

Wii U has the multiplayer mode though. It wins this one.

I've actually regretted choosing the Wii U version over 3DS, so I'm totally going to get the physical release.

Let's see... I've backed this game on Kickstarter, purchased it on Steam for three of my friends, and now I'm buying it again for my handheld. I will have officially purchased more copies of Shovel Knight than Super Mario Bros 3 now.

Hmmm...I own the Wii U version, though I may opt to buy the 3ds physical version. Its only $20, plus I am curious to play the game in stereoscopic 3d.

@Beardednerd

3DS, easily. Stereoscopic 3D sprites in "8bit" form are a glorious thing to behold. Plus, you can play it anywhere.

@Zero

3DS version already has multiplayer, actually. StreetPass Battle Arena!
