I would like to see a 2D Metroid game on the 3DS. Now, that would be my Game of E3.

Doesn't matter to me. Make one, make it grand, and I'll be good.

I voted 2-D. I've posted this before but what I really want is a direct sequel to Fusion, Metroid 5 if you will.

I'd be interested in a 3-D game as well, 1st or 3rd person, I think there's a lot of potential for either one.

3D. I'm not totally sure what could be done in a 2D Metroid-series game that we haven't seen before. That's not to say that 2D Metroidvanias don't have anywhere to grow--I just don't see a theoretical Metroid Dread being super-innovative. I feel like it would be yet another Super Metroid-esque game... which could be great, but the possibilities for a 3D Metroid game to tread new ground seem much more easily apparent to me.

I'd prefer 3D but I'll take either one.

True 3D third person if I had my druthers.

I really think Metroid is due for another 2D stroller game but with similar 3D visuals used in Donkey Kong and Mario Bros. We haven't had one since the GBA on the other hand we had 3 3D game come out since Prime 1. Either way I (as a not huge Metroid fan) would still love to see a new Metriod game.

Metroid 5. In any form.

I'll take either. I just want an exploration focused game where Samus is isolated... no dialogue and cutscene nonsense.

This. I'd prefer a 2D outing on 3DS this time, but as long as it fits the criteria above I'd be happy.

@Hinph
I'm fine with cut-scenes as long as their brief and un-intrusive, ala the cut-scenes in Fusion.

With the retro-Metrovania craze, it would make sense to me to make an utterly massive 2D side scroller. Nintendo could "show 'em how it's done."

@deathly_hallows

Yeah, I guess I shouldn't say "no cutscenes" straight up. I just really wanted to stress how I don't want a chatty Metroid game.

Hm, I don't think I care which form really, just as long as we get one and it's good.

@Hinph
Yeah ideally minimal is best, I really like the cut-scenes in Super Metroid and Zero Mission, Fusion was maybe too chatty at times, but it made sense with how Adam (freaky AI ghost version) was a main character ala Cortana from Halo.

Technically I'm up for both, but I want a Metroid Prime game on Wii U more than a 2D Metroid so I went with 3D. They can follow it up the next month with a 2D Metroid on 3DS with the parallax effect.

I went for either way. We've all played good Metroid games in either setting, so just getting another solid entry is fine by me, no matter the format.

Just so long as it isn't being handled by Team Ninja, I couldn't care less what form it takes. The Prime games were amazing, but the formula became tiresome quickly - with all of the scanning (yes, I know it was optional) and the constant intense battles (where the doors would seal, the music would kick in, and hard-to-kill bad guys would drop in). I want Super Metroid Prime. The best of both worlds. More exploration, less forced action.

Yep. This is one of the reasons I want a 2D Metroid. But the market being saturated could potentially turn Nintendo off. They like to go against the grain.

Depends on the platform. 3D if it's a console game, 2D if it's a handheld game.
